About Our Client
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is the UK's leading accident prevention charity, dedicated to saving lives and preventing serious injuries. For more than 100 years, RoSPA has shaped government policy, influenced industry standards and driven behavioural change across road, workplace, home and leisure safety. With an annual turnover of approximately £9 million and more than 90 employees, RoSPA combines commercial services, including training, qualifications, consultancy, awards and events, with charitable work focused on research, campaigning and policy development. Its ambition is clear: to create a world free from accidental injury.
Job Description
- Contribute to the strategic leadership and long-term direction of RoSPA.
- Ensure effective governance and oversight as a member of the Board of Trustees.
- Support the organisation's sustainable growth and long-term financial resilience.
- Provide business and commercial insight to Board discussions and decision-making.
- Advise on areas such as commercial strategy, sales, marketing and partnerships.
- Help drive income generation and diversification of revenue streams.
- Work closely with fellow Trustees, the Chief Executive and senior leadership team.
- Serve on at least one Board sub-committee, such as Finance & Investments, Remuneration or Nominations.
- Support the delivery of RoSPA's charitable mission and organisational objectives.
- Act as an ambassador for RoSPA and promote its values and purpose.

The Successful Applicant
- Senior executive or board-level leadership experience.
- Strong business and commercial expertise.
- Experience in commercial strategy, sales, marketing, partnerships or business development.
- A track record of supporting organisational growth and improved performance.
- Experience driving income generation and developing diversified revenue streams.
- Strategic thinking and sound judgement.
- An understanding of strong governance principles.
- The ability to contribute constructively at Board level.
- A commitment to RoSPA's mission and values.
- Charity sector experience is not essential.

What's on Offer
Remuneration: The role is unpaid, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Location: Board and committee meetings are usually held at RoSPA's Head Office in Edgbaston, Birmingham and via Microsoft Teams.
Time requirement: Approximately 8-12 days per year, including four Board meetings, committee meetings, an away day, and preparation time.
Appointment term: Initially three years from June 2026, with the possibility of two further three-year terms to be served.
