Job Title: Business Architect

Function: Strategy, Change and In Hospital Services

Location: Hybrid – with 2-3 days a week in any of our offices (Nottingham, Alfreton, Daresbury, Wakefield, Sheffield or London)

Contract type: Permanent

Salary: £65,920 with the potential to rise to £77,553 over 3 years

Closing Date: 30th July 2026

NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a Business Architect to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first and to deliver against our strategic objectives.

This role is helping NHS Supply Chain to achieve its ambitions. Having recently reshaped our 10-year Strategy and being in the middle of a multi-year operating model change, the Business Architect will have a key role to play in helping the organisation bridge the gap between strategy and execution. This is a role for a skilled Business Architect with a passion for the business side of change to influence the NHS of tomorrow.

Every day you will …

  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand strategic priorities and translate them into actionable architectural views
  • Refine and iterate the capability, organisation, information, and value stream models (core domains) as well as the extended domains to reflect current and future states
  • Maintain and evolve the Target Operating Model to support strategy execution and transformation planning
  • Develop business architecture views and roadmaps that guide investment decisions and enable change initiatives
  • Ensure alignment between business strategy, operational needs, and transformation programmes
  • Facilitate conversations across business units to identify impacts, dependencies, and opportunities for optimisation and transformation
  • Provide clear, structured insights that help stakeholders understand how the business delivers value and how it can evolve

What skills will help you thrive in this role?

  • Significant experience of Business Architecture in practice and understanding (essential) and qualifications in (desirable) of relevant methodologies (e.g. Business Architecture Guild & BizBOK, SAFe, TOGAF)
  • Experience of Target operating model and service design
  • The ability to work intensely to achieve and exceed difficult standards
  • Uses comprehensive knowledge and skills to work independently, turning theory into practical deliverables that work for the business and deliver value
  • The ability to engage with diverse stakeholders across the NHS system, translating complex architectural concepts into clear, business-relevant insight, keeping complexity behind the scenes to enable confident, informed decision-making
