We are seeking a Business Architect & Org Design Lead (Associate Director level) to lead complex client engagements and help grow the Strategy+ offer in AECOM Advisory. This senior consulting delivery role bridges management-level consulting responsibilities, broadly equivalent to a manager in a traditional consultancy.
You will:
- Work with infrastructure, public sector, and regulated industry clients to translate strategy into execution
- Drive operating model design, transformation, governance, organisation, and performance improvement
- Combine problem-solving, senior stakeholder management, team leadership, and targeted business development

Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex consulting engagements or major workstreams, from scoping through delivery, ensuring:
- High-quality outputs
- Strong project discipline
- Clear team accountability
- Design and apply methodologies to solve client problems in:
- Operating model development
- Organization design
- Governance
- Service transformation
- Business change
- Performance improvement
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, managing expectations and acting as a strong advisor
- Translate complex analysis into concise, decision-ready recommendations, roadmaps, and executive-level materials
- Conduct workshops and steer cross-functional discussions to align stakeholders on priorities, trade-offs, and implementation choices
- Provide a forward-looking perspective, combining horizon-scanning, market awareness, and insights into emerging client challenges
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and connect clients with the right AECOM specialists
- Manage scope, risk, quality, and commercial performance with early intervention on delivery challenges
- Lead business development by:
- Identifying follow-on opportunities
- Contributing to proposals
- Deepening relationships in priority sectors and target accounts

What We’re Seeking
- Proven experience in management consulting, advisory, transformation, or in-house strategy/operational improvement roles
- Ability to lead teams in high-ambiguity environments, delivering quality results within tight timelines
- Exceptional executive communication, with the ability to grasp and articulate complexity into a client-friendly narrative
- Experience in managing senior stakeholders, influencing decisions across diverse environments
- Strong commercial judgement, demonstrated by scoping engagements, managing delivery risks, and supporting client growth initiatives
Expertise & Delivery
Must bring:
- Proven expertise in:
- Developing target operating models
- Capability mapping
- Governance structures
- Implementation roadmaps
- A pragmatic, hands-on mindset—less of a "theory guy/theory girl," more of a client-side operator delivering practical outcomes
- Experience designing scalable processes that improve efficiency, consistency, and long-term capability
- Self-motivation to drive execution in dynamic environments, juggling priorities without sacrificing quality
- Resilience to operate at pace, maintaining high stakeholder engagement regardless of external pressures

Qualifications for the Role
- Technical credentials: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Professional growth: Postgraduate qualification or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CoPPI, CMC, Lean Six Sigma) are advantageous
