Job Description
Start here. Grow here.
We are seeking a Business Architect & Org Design Lead (Associate Director level) to lead complex client engagements and help grow the Strategy+ offer in AECOM Advisory. This is a senior consulting delivery role, broadly equivalent to Manager level in a management consultancy. You will work with infrastructure, public sector, and regulated-industry clients to translate strategy into execution through operating model design, transformation, governance, organisation, and performance improvement work. The role combines hands-on problem-solving, senior stakeholder management, team leadership, and targeted business development.
About Strategy+
Strategy+ helps organisations solve complex system-level challenges by turning strategy into practical, deliverable change. Our work spans:
- Capability-led operating model design
- Governance design
- Change and transformation
- Performance improvement across people, process, data, technology, and delivery
Current growth priorities include operating model design, change management, and performance improvement, particularly across sectors such as Energy, Water, and Defence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex consulting engagements or major workstreams, ensuring high-quality outputs, strong project discipline, and clear team accountability.
- Design and apply credible, efficient, and scalable methodologies to solve client problems across operating model development, organisation design, governance, service transformation, business change, and performance improvement.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and manage expectations confidently. Act as a direct day-to-day advisor.
- Translate complex analysis into concise, decision-ready recommendations, roadmaps, and executive-level materials.
- Facilitate workshops and steer cross-functional discussions to align stakeholders on priorities, trade-offs, and implementation choices.
- Bring a forward-looking perspective to client discussions through horizon scanning, market awareness, and insight into emerging client challenges.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and connect clients with specialists across AECOM to create joined-up solutions.
- Manage scope, risk, quality, and commercial performance, intervening early when delivery issues arise.
- Lead business development by identifying follow-on opportunities, contributing to proposals, and deepening relationships in priority sectors and target accounts.
- Coach consultants and senior consultants on structuring, analysis, storytelling, and client delivery.
- Support effective team set-up and role allocation, aligning capability to client needs, team development, and business priorities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
