Title: Business Architect & Org Design Lead (Associate Director Level)
Business Unit: Strategy+ Advisory
We are seeking a senior-level Business Architect & Org Design Lead to lead complex client engagements and grow AECOM Advisory’s Strategy+ offering. Broadly equivalent to a Manager level in a management consultancy, this role combines hands-on problem-solving, senior stakeholder management, team leadership, and targeted business development.
You will advise infrastructure, public sector and regulated-industry clients on transforming strategy into execution—helping design operating models, governance structures, transformation initiatives, and performance improvement programs across people, process, data, technology, and delivery. Current priorities include Energy, Water, Defence, and urban infrastructure.

- Operating model design (capability, process, and organisation redesign)
- Transformation & change management (governance, roadmaps, alignment)

Key Responsibilities
Consulting & Delivery Leadership
- Lead end-to-end consulting engagements or major workstreams, from scoping through delivery.
- Ensure high-quality outputs, strong project discipline, and clear team accountability.
- Design and apply credible, industry-proven methodologies to deliver solutions across:
- Operating model development
- Organisation design
- Governance frameworks
- Service transformation
- Business change and performance improvement

Stakeholder & Client Relationships
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, managing expectations and serving as a day-to-day advisor.
- Masterfully translate complexity into decision-ready recommendations, roadmaps, and actionable executive briefs.
Strategic Facilitation & Influence
- Facilitate workshops and cross-functional discussions to align stakeholders on priorities and trade-offs.
- Anticipate emerging challenges by leveraging horizon scanning, market insight, and forward-looking trends.
Team & Engagement Management
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, connecting clients with the right AECOM specialists to create integrated solutions.
- Scope, risk, quality, and commercial oversight of engagements, intervening early to mitigate delivery risks.
Business Development & Growth
- Identify follow-on opportunities and foster client relationships in strategic sectors (e.g., Energy, Water, Defence).
- Contribute to proposals, bid activities, and targeted account growth plans.
Capability & Talent Development
- Coach consultants and senior consultants on:
- Analytical structuring
- Storytelling from data
- Engaging with clients
- Drive team effectiveness, ensuring capability aligns with project demands and business priorities.

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Experience & Skills

10+ years in management consulting, advisory, transformation, or in-house strategy/operational improvement roles.

Proven track record of leading complex, ambiguous problems to deliver high-value outputs amid strict deadlines.

Executive communication experience: articulating complexity simply, building narratives from data, and influencing senior stakeholders.

Strong commercial judgement, including:
- Scoping high-value engagements
- Managing delivery risks
- Supporting business growth initiatives

Hands-on experience with:
- Operating model design
- Governance frameworks
- Implementation roadmaps

Pragmatic mindset: Preferring client-centric, actionable outcomes over theoretical consulting approaches.

Ability to develop and embed scalable process improvements, driving efficiency, consistency, and long-term capability.

Proven ability to lead in fast-paced environments, multitask while maintaining quality and stakeholder engagement.

Credibility to influence senior leaders, challenge constructively, and build trusted commercial relationships.
