We are seeking a Business Architect & Organisation Design Lead (equivalent to Associate Director) to lead complex client engagements and expand the Strategy+ consulting offer within AECOM Advisory. This is a senior consulting role, comparable to a Manager level in a management consultancy firm.
Your role:
- Work with infrastructure, public sector, and regulated-industry clients to translate strategy into execution.
- Focus on operating model design, transformation, governance, organisation, and performance improvement.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Lead complex engagements & projects
- Manage end-to-end consulting projects from scoping to delivery, ensuring high-quality outputs, discipline, and team accountability.
- Drive major workstreams aligned with client goals.

Designed for impact
- Develop efficient, scalable methodologies for organisational design, transformation, governance, and performance improvement.
- Simplify complex analysis into clear, decision-ready recommendations, roadmaps, and executive deliverables.

Senior stakeholder & client leadership
- Build trusted relationships with senior clients.
- Influence decisions, manage expectations, and act as a trusted advisor.

Strategic workshop facilitation
- Lead cross-functional workshops to align stakeholders on priorities, trade-offs, and implementation strategies.

Future-focused problem-solving
- Bring emerging industry trends, market insights, and horizon scanning to client discussions.

Cross-team coordination
- Assemble and manage multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring the right specialists from AECOM are deployed.

Risk & quality management
- Oversee scope, commercial performance, and project health, intervening early on risks.

Business development
- Identify follow-on opportunities, contribute to proposals, and strengthen relationships in high-priority sectors (e.g., Energy, Water, Defence).

Consultant development
- Coach senior consultants and consultants, fostering growth in analysis, storytelling, and client delivery skills.

Team optimisation
- Ensure capability aligns with client needs, team development, and business priorities.

Qualifications (Key Requirements)
What You Bring:
- Consulting/advisory, transformation or in-house strategy/operational experience at a senior level.
- Proven ability to:
- Lead teams on complex, ambiguous problems within tight deadlines.
- Simplify and articulate complex issues in compelling, leadership-ready formats.
- Manage senior stakeholders and influence decisions.
- Apply strong commercial judgement for work scoping, risk management, and business development.
- Operational mindset: Hands-on experience in organisational design, target operating models, governance, and implementation roadmaps—not just theoretical approaches.
- Systemic thinking: Capability to scale processes, improve efficiency, and drive long-term capability within clients.
- Adaptability: Thrives in fast-paced, changing environments while maintaining high quality, discipline, and stakeholder engagement.
- Credibility & influence: Confident communicator who can challenge constructively, build trust with executive teams, and leverage networks.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Advantageous: Postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certification.
