About the Role
Are you looking for a consulting role that really makes a difference?
We are proud of the work we do in National Security and the difference we make to the safety and prosperity of the UK.
We are growing rapidly and are looking for experienced business consultants to join our teams.
Consulting in National Security
Our consultants support our customers in implementing change throughout the lifecycle of their most challenging projects; from business justification and strategy development through to design, planning and implementation.
Building trusted relationships is at the heart of what we do: we collaborate closely with our customers to fully understand their business objectives and challenges. We identify risks, areas for improvement and opportunities, and provide strategic advice in an objective manner, delivering innovative solutions to help our customers through complex strategic challenges.
If you have experience of assisting customers in articulating and achieving their strategic goals, we would love to hear from you.
Experience in the digital, technology, and/or cyber domains would be great, but is not essential.
Other helpful skills and knowledge include designing and implementing new business structures, developing business cases, and providing regulatory and policy advice. Experience in briefing, providing advice, and developing trusted relationships with public sector customers, and an understanding of the organisational landscape of UK government agencies would also be helpful.
The only way BAE Systems DI grows is by having people who are constantly progressing. Our Consulting Development Framework supports what is expected of our consultants, and all competencies are designed to support performance and career development. This framework enables our people to make informed decisions about their strengths, development areas and the type of work and roles that will enable them to build their career successfully. This information leads to a sense of autonomy, which is critical to the progression of our consultants. If you currently have process mapping or business change skills, and aspire to gain experience and expertise in digital transformation and strategy development, we will support you in realising your career aspirations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
