Business Continuity Manager

Business Continuity Manager (BCM)

Reporting to: Head of Assurance

The Business Continuity Manager (BCM) is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation’s business continuity and resilience framework, encompassing both internal operations and client-managed infrastructure.

Key responsibilities include ensuring robust operating models against disruptions, meeting regulatory standards, and addressing evolving risks—particularly those related to cybersecurity and AI.

About the Role

The role ensures that systems, services, and processes remain resilient against disruption, meeting regulatory expectations and aligning with evolving risks, including cybersecurity and AI usage.

Responsibilities

Business Continuity Strategy & Governance

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) in line with ISO 22301 and industry best practices.
  • Align the framework with Bell’s risk and resilience goals.
  • Maintain BC policies, standards, and procedures across internal operations and client environments.
  • Ensure clear governance, roles, and accountability for business continuity across the organisation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for continuity-related incidents, facilitating communication and resolution.

Business Impact Analysis (BIA) & Risk Assessment

  • Lead and maintain up-to-date Business Impact Analyses for critical IT systems and business services.
  • Define recovery priorities, RTOs (Recovery Time Objectives), RPOs (Recovery Point Objectives), and dependencies across applications and infrastructure.
  • Assess alignment with organisational risk appetite and continuity goals.
  • Identify emerging risks, particularly those related to AI-enabled systems and third-party dependencies.

System Audits & Assurance

  • Conduct periodic system-level BC audits to evaluate:
    • Accuracy and currency of BIA data
    • Availability and effectiveness of recovery strategies
    • Compliance with access control reviews (least privilege and identity governance)
    • Governance of AI usage within systems
    • Whether Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) are conducted where applicable
  • Document findings, track remediation actions, and report on compliance status.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
