Business Data Analyst - x2
'ordre is part-time and offers up to £500 per day under an Umbrella arrangement. The role is for 3 days per week in our Milton Keynes office.

Business Data Analyst
About the Role
The Business Data Analyst plays a critical role in establishing the Data Governance framework and policy, ensuring data ownership, and fostering trust in data across the business.
This role bridges Financial Services (UK) Ltd. and the Bank, requiring compliance with relevant regulations, including:
- Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
- European Central Bank (ECB)
- Internal European Organisational Handbook (E-OHB)
The Business Data Analyst is responsible for:
- Implementing metadata management
- Ensuring safe and accessible data
- Monitoring and managing data quality
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance & Policy Rollout
- Support the development and implementation of the Data Governance framework and policy to enable clear data ownership.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align Data Governance strategies with business priorities and challenges.
Metadata Management & Data Discovery
- Work with business areas/domains to establish effective metadata management using the approved data catalogue tool.
- Contribute to metadata enrichment activities to catalogue valuable data assets.
- Become expert in the approved data catalogue tool, improving and troubleshooting as required.
Data Quality & Monitoring
- Assist in implementing data quality monitoring with appropriate tooling.
- Support colleagues in defining data quality rules, setting thresholds, and developing data quality reports.
- Become an expert in the approved data quality tool and ensure its effective usage.

Advocacy & Data Culture
- Act as a Data Governance ambassador, promoting data literacy and a data-driven culture.
- Present monthly performance reports on Data Governance effectiveness to key stakeholders, including:
- Data Governance Committee
- Head of Data
Compliance & Process Management
- Maintain the Quality Management checklist for Data Governance items (e.g., tracking changes to sensitive data flows).
- Ensure updates in the IT Architecture tool.

Decision-Making Authority
- Advise stakeholders on best practice in Data Governance.
- Influence adoption of effectiveness and enduring governance models.
- Propose process/tooling adjustments for issues.
- Escalate serious Data Governance issues to senior management (up to the Board of Managers, BoM).
Key Challenges
- Secure buy-in from stakeholders—Data Governance is a collaborative effort.
- Articulate the strategic value of Data Governance while aligning it with business goals.
- Manage increasing stakeholder demands as implementation expands.
- Balance driving Data Governance adoption with ensuring business self-ownership of data.

Requirements
Education & Experience
-
Mandatory:
- Proven experience in implementing data governance frameworks or relevant data management practices.
- Hands-on experience with metadata and data quality tooling.
- Strong background in stakeholder management (internal and external, at senior levels).
- Deep understanding of UK/EU regulations, including:
- FCA (Financial Conduct Authority)
- PRA (Prudential Regulation Authority)
- GDPR/DPA (Data Protection regulations)
- ECB (European Central Bank)
- EBA (European Banking Authority)

Desirable:
- Certification (e.g., DAMA CDMP – Certified Data Management Professional).
- Experience in an agile working environment.
- Finance/financial services background.
- Strong business partnering skills.
