About the Role

Are you a highly motivated capital equipment business developer with deep expertise in the operating theatre? Passionately engaged with minimally invasive surgery and proven skills to convince surgeons and budget holders on critical high-impact purchasing decisions?

As a Surgical Robotics Business Developer, you will be our key advocate for the Medtronic Hugo™ Robotic-Assisted Surgery System, driving adoption in leading hospitals.

  • Build coalitions of internal supporters across hospital networks
  • Execute complex sales cycles, from first engagement to deal closure
  • Align with surgical teams and C-suite executives on transformation initiatives
  • Demonstrate strategic problem-solving and collaborative drive in a matrix environment

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

To excel in this role, you will:

  • Aggressively sell the Hugo™ Robotic-Assisted Surgery System in the EMEA market, demonstrating expertise across clinical use cases, financial ROI, and scalability.
  • Develop нойных surgical strategies alongside hospital teams to accelerate adoption.
  • Lead business case workshops to articulate cost savings, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes for decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, clinical and mobility teams to address technical and operational challenges.
  • Travel 70%+ of the time in-field, meeting clients across a vast geographical region (across the UK and EMEA).
  • Grow and activate networks of key opinion leaders and hospital teams.

Typical Activities

  • Monthly fieldwork: On-site visits, team rounds, surgical demonstrations, executive meetings
  • Collaborative sessions: “Proof of concept” workshops, TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) modeling with hospital teams
  • Project management: Tracking opportunities from lead identification through to implementation
  • Stakeholder alignment: Bridging technical teams with purchasing/budget executives

Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Haves

To qualify:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, science, STEM, or related field.
  • Proven success selling high-value, complex capital/medical equipment—preferably in surgery or hospital transformation.
  • Strong field-progression track record: Close rates, long deal cycles, multiple markets.
  • In-field experience: Operating room familiarity (surgical experience valuable); first-class field/customer development networks.
  • Relationships matter: Ability to build trust rapidly with execution+C-suite stakeholders—avoid warranties are non-negotiable.
  • Ethical rigour: Compliance with Medtronic standards of conduct—no exceptions.
  • Travel appetite: Commitment to 70%+ regional travel across EMEA.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Neurosurgery, orthopedics, or obstetrics/client-facing experience
  • Sales in robotic surgery or complex gynaecology equipment
  • Immersion in cloudlab-based surgical simulation techs

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range (UK): £55,040 – £82,560 (proportional to experience)
