Business Development & Account Director

Location: UK but mostly remote (with some occasional travel to client meetings, networking events and a monthly team meeting)

Reporting to: Head of Growth

About Thrive

At Thrive, we believe better conversations build better leaders, stronger teams and healthier organisations.

We combine expert coaching, leadership development and technology to help organisations create cultures where people perform at their best. Our platform enables organisations to deliver coaching, mentoring and leadership development at scale while providing the insight needed to measure impact and drive meaningful change.

We're growing quickly and are looking for an experienced Business Development & Account Director who loves building relationships, creating opportunities and helping organisations solve complex people and leadership challenges.

This is a role for someone who is naturally curious, commercially driven and enjoys opening doors, building trusted partnerships and becoming a recognised adviser to senior leaders.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Head of Growth, you'll play a key role in driving Thrive's next stage of growth.

Approximately 50% of your time will focus on generating and winning new business, with the remaining 50% dedicated to developing and expanding a portfolio of strategic customer accounts.

You'll engage senior HR, Learning & Development and business leaders to understand the challenges they're facing and help them think differently about leadership, culture and performance.

Rather than selling products, you'll lead consultative conversations that uncover opportunities and position Thrive as a long-term strategic partner.

You'll work closely with Marketing, Customer Success, Operations, Product and our Coaching Faculty to ensure every customer experiences exceptional service from first conversation through to long-term partnership.

No two days are the same. One day you may be facilitating a discovery workshop with a prospective client, the next presenting a proposal to an executive team, recording a podcast with an industry leader, attending a networking event or working with an existing customer to identify new opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

Contribute to the development of a strong and sustainable sales pipeline, creating opportunities that contribute to Thrive's continued growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities.
  • Generating new business through referrals, networking, partnerships, marketing campaigns and targeted outreach.
  • Leading discovery conversations with senior HR, Learning & Development and business leaders.
  • Understanding organisational priorities and identifying opportunities where Thrive can add value.
  • Developing tailored coaching, leadership development and technology solutions.
  • Preparing proposals, presentations and commercial responses.
  • Managing opportunities through the full sales cycle from initial conversation to contract signature.
  • Consistently achieving agreed new business revenue targets.
  • Maintaining accurate CRM records in Zoho and sales forecasting.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
