Company Description

The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) supports people working in the electrical and energy industries, as well as their immediate families, when they face challenging or unexpected life events. The charity offers free, confidential, and practical assistance tailored to individual circumstances, including mental health support, bereavement counselling, financial help, legal guidance, redundancy support, and family assistance. EIC also provides training and education to help people navigate difficulties and build resilience. Its work is made possible through the generosity of the industry, including fundraising activities, programme and event sponsorship, and donations from supporters.

Role Description

This is a varied, exciting full-time, fully remote role. It's a maternity cover for 17 months and we're looking for someone to start as soon as possible.

The Business Development Assistant plays a key supporting role in driving income generation and partnership growth. This position supports industry engagement, events, training programmes, and ongoing business development activity, ensuring strong follow-up, organisation, and delivery across the team.

The role requires a highly organised, proactive individual who is comfortable managing multiple workstreams, liaising with stakeholders, and supporting sales and relationship development activities.

Main Duties

  • Business Development: Prospect new opportunities, manage structured follow up using CRM system, conduct introduction and follow up calls / emails and manage the Ambassador Programme.
  • Events & Industry Engagement: Manage all industry events, organise and coordinate attendance (materials, logistics etc), maintain records and source new contacts and events. Candidate must be willing to travel.
  • Training: Manage all training opportunities, including all the admin, bookings and shared inbox. Support the apprentice programme.
  • CRM, Admin and Invoicing: Maintain CRM system ensuring accurate and up to date records, manage relevant shared inboxes, manage and process all team invoices.
  • General: Create and maintain standard charity materials, including presentations, letters and speeches.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Interpersonal Skills and Customer Service abilities to build and maintain positive relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Candidates should possess solid Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to prepare professional emails, reports, and presentations.
  • Candidates should possess good Analytical Skills and Market Research capabilities to identify opportunities, support data-driven decisions, and monitor fundraising and partnership performance.
  • Candidates should ideally have proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM or database tools.
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong organisational and time-management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
  • Experience in charity, nonprofit, fundraising, or business development environments is beneficial, as is knowledge of the electrical or energy industries.
  • A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in business, marketing, communications, or a related field is advantageous.
