About the Role

We are seeking a Business Development Associate to join our growing Business Development team. This role combines:

  • Customer account management
  • Commercial support
  • Business development activity

In this position, you will act as a key interface between our customers and internal delivery teams, ensuring: ✔ Strong relationships ✔ Successful project execution ✔ Account growth


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Growth

  • Identify new customer leads and explore expansion opportunities in existing relationships.
  • Support new business development, customer engagement initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
  • Contribute to market research and opportunity identification.
  • Assist with investment and fundraising activities.
  • Support grant proposal scoping and preparation.

Customer Account Management

  • Prepare commercial quotations, pricing proposals, and commercial offers.
  • Review commercial agreements, statements of work, proposals, and customer contracts.
  • Support invoicing activities in line with contractual requirements and agreed schedules.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts, building trusted relationships.
  • Support technical teams in delivering customer projects.
  • Facilitate customer meetings, project reviews, and progress reporting.

Reporting, Analysis & Business Support

  • Develop presentations and slide decks for customers, investors, stakeholders, and senior leadership as needed.
  • Assist in business process improvements for operations and project delivery.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of business systems (e.g., CRM systems).
  • Provide flexible support to the team and undertake ad hoc duties.

About You

We are looking for a highly organised, commercially aware individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will: ✔ Be confident engaging with customers and internal stakeholders. ✔ Be motivated by relationship-building and operational excellence.


Requirements

Essential Qualifications

✅ Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a science-related field (PhD preferred). ✅ 2+ years of experience in account management, business development, or a similar commercial role. ✅ Strong communication and relationship management skills. ✅ Excellent organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities. ✅ Experience preparing professional documents (commercial proposals, reports, presentations). ✅ Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. ✅ Prior experience with CRM systems.

Desirable Skills

🔹 Experience in technical, scientific, or engineering environments, preferably in pharma/biotech. 🔹 Familiarity with commercial contracts, pricing, and customer agreements. 🔹 Knowledge of IP portfolio management.


Our Offer

We provide an attractive remuneration package and a hybrid working environment. The role expects a minimum of 2 days/week based at our office in Dagenham East.
