Business Development Consultant (Freelance / Fractional - remote) Location: United Kingdom (Remote) Employment Type: Freelance / Part-Time / Fractional (with scaling potential) Experience Level: mid-level Industry: IT Consulting, Tech Staff Augmentation, Nearshore Software Engineering About Optiveum Optiveum is an elite IT consulting and talent solutions firm with over 20 years of international founding experience. Headquartered in Poland, we deliver highly specialized software developers, data scientists, and dedicated engineering squads from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) to high-growth enterprises globally. Unlike generalist IT recruitment agencies that focus on high-volume, generic headcount, Optiveum specializes strictly in sourcing rare, hard-to-find technical profiles. We excel at delivering specialized expertise in Generative AI, Advanced Data Science, Machine Learning, Cloud Architecture, and niche enterprise tech stacks—the exact talent currently missing from the local UK market. Backed by a proprietary network of 15,000+ vetted CEE engineers and a highly successful track record with international tech firms, we are expanding our footprint into the UK tech ecosystem. We are seeking a well-networked, senior freelance partner on the ground to drive this growth. The Opportunity This role is designed specifically for an established independent consultant, B2B sales freelancer, or fractional executive who wants to add a high-margin, high-demand service to their portfolio. While it starts on a flexible, fractional basis, it is strategically structured to evolve into a long-term leadership or regional partnership opportunity as we scale our permanent UK operations. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Door Opening: Identify and qualify mid-market companies, scale-ups, and enterprise tech organizations across the UK facing severe local engineering bottlenecks. Account-Based Outreach: Focus on high-quality, targeted research and warm introductions. We prioritize personal credibility and meaningful relationships over generic, high-volume cold outreach. Initial Discovery: Initiate strategic conversations with CTOs, VPs of Engineering, and C-level tech stakeholders to introduce Optiveum’s specialized nearshore delivery model. Operational Support: Technical deep-dives and solution scoping can be conducted jointly with our founders. We handle the entire commercial proposal process, pricing models, legal negotiations, and back-end candidate delivery—freeing you to focus purely on relationship building and unlocking opportunities. Who We Are Looking For An independent B2B sales professional or senior tech consultant who possesses: Proven Track Record: A minimum of 2-3 years selling high-ticket B2B services into the UK tech sector—specifically IT outsourcing, specialized staff augmentation, or complex software development services. An Active "Black Book": An existing network of relationships with UK-based technology leaders, CTOs, and product engineering heads. Tech Literacy: Deep familiarity with the current technical landscape. You do not need to code, but you must comfortably discuss the market demand for AI/GenAI, advanced data engineering, and agile nearshore delivery. Quality Focus: A sales professional who naturally values precision, trust, and consultative alignment over high-volume transactional sales. Compensation & Long-Term Partnership Lucrative Commission & Account Ownership: An aggressive commission structure with ongoing lifetime/trailing value on the client accounts you successfully bring in. Leadership Track: The opportunity to take a formal executive position or regional partnership role if/when we establish a permanent UK corporate entity. Autonomy: A flexible, outcome-driven structure designed specifically to respect and complement your existing freelance or consulting portfolio. How to Apply If you have the network and the expertise to help UK enterprises solve their tech talent squeeze through elite nearshore engineering, we want to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
