Description
Advance your sales career with LOCALiQ.
We’re looking for a driven and commercially minded Business Development Consultant to join our team across the West Yorkshire region. Part of Newsquest Media Group, LOCALiQ is one of the UK’s leading media and marketing solutions providers, helping local businesses grow through powerful, results-driven advertising.
This is a field-based, consultative sales role where you’ll be out in your territory, meeting business owners and decision-makers face to face. You’ll represent some of the region’s most trusted local news brands, offering a full suite of digital and print solutions tailored to each client’s needs.
From generating opportunities through to closing deals and growing accounts, you’ll play a key role in helping businesses succeed while building a strong, sustainable pipeline for yourself.
This is not a desk-based role. You’ll be out meeting clients, understanding their challenges first-hand, and delivering solutions that genuinely make an impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and win new business through proactive outreach including cold calling and outbound activity
- Book and attend face-to-face meetings across your territory
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through to close
- Hit and exceed monthly revenue targets and KPIs
- Build and maintain a strong, consistent sales pipeline
- Manage and grow existing client accounts, identifying opportunities to upsell and increase spend
- Take a consultative approach, understanding client needs and recommending tailored advertising solutions
- Build long-term relationships by delivering excellent service and ongoing support
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and successful campaign delivery
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activity, and LOCALiQ’s product offering
- Represent LOCALiQ professionally as an ambassador for our regional brands

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
