This isn't just another senior sales role. This is the seat at the table where the future of Social Housing at Travis Perkins gets defined, and you'd be the one defining it.

The opportunity

Social Housing is changing fast. Decarbonisation, RetroFit, Modern Methods of Construction, the conversations our customers are having today look nothing like the ones they were having five years ago. As Business Development Director for Social Housing you'll lead our external offer into a market that's wide open for the partner who can speak its language fluently.

You'll own the strategy that grows our market share, the relationships that win and retain the contracts, and the proposition that makes Travis Perkins Managed Services the obvious choice when a Housing Association is deciding who to back.

What you'll be doing

Leading from the front of our Managed Services Leadership Team and reporting to our Managing Director, Rosie Wise, you'll be the voice of the customer in every strategic decision we make. You'll head up a team of a total of 15+ across Business Development, Bids, Marketing, Proposition Development and Continuous Improvement whilst working closely with a variety of teams across the business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Day to day, this means:

  • Defining and executing the sales strategy for both sectors, with clear, measurable plans for growth
  • Owning the strategic relationships with the major Social Housing Procurement Frameworks, making sure we're engaged where it matters, at the level it matters
  • Running the new business pipeline with the rigour that turns insight into won deals
  • Shaping our Marketing strategy and the external perception of the Managed Services brand
  • Owning the Managed Services Innovation pipeline alongside our Digital and Technology partners
  • Coaching, developing and stretching a team that already knows its market, and helping them know it even better

Who we're looking for

Commercial instincts - you make profitable decisions and you can defend them

A strong background in bids and tenders with Social Housing providers is desirable, but we're equally interested in people who've led winning bid responses in other sectors and can apply that rigour here

Strategic communication that lands with the right people at the right level

Genuine customer centricity, not the poster-on-the-wall version

Influence, negotiation, and the kind of listening that actually changes the room

The strongest candidates will also bring building materials sector experience, ideally with a Social Housing lens and a feel for how public sector procurement frameworks really work

We're looking for someone who can see the big picture and get into the detail. Down to earth, credible, driven. The kind of leader who instils trust on day one and brings the right people together to make things happen.

Why Travis Perkins Managed Services

Managed Services is one of the most strategically important growth areas in the Travis Perkins Group. You'd be helping shape it, not slotting into something already built. The role carries weight across the entire group, real budget, real autonomy, and a clear line of sight to the markets that are going to define UK construction for the next decade.

If you're ready to lead from the front in a sector that's actually going somewhere, we'd love to talk.
