Business Development Director (Digital Infrastructure)

THE TEAM

You’ll be joining a high-performing commercial function focused on delivering next-generation digital infrastructure solutions across fibre and connectivity markets. Working alongside senior leadership, engineering, and delivery teams, you’ll play a key role in shaping growth strategy and securing major infrastructure opportunities across the UK and international markets. This is a strategic, outward-facing role with significant impact on the business’s long-term expansion.

SCOPE OF ROLE

As Business Development Director, you will lead the identification, development, and conversion of strategic opportunities within the digital infrastructure sector. With a focus on advanced fibre solutions including hollow core fibre and high-capacity, low-latency networks - you’ll drive revenue growth by building partnerships with telecommunications providers, hyperscale operators, carriers, and infrastructure investors. You will be responsible for expanding market presence, developing commercial models, and supporting international growth across next-generation connectivity programmes.

How You’ll Succeed

Market Development & Opportunity Creation

Identify and originate new opportunities across fibre networks and digital infrastructure Build strong relationships with telecom carriers, hyperscale providers, data centre operators, and investors Position the business as a delivery partner for advanced fibre and low-latency connectivity solutions

Strategic Partnerships

Develop and manage partnerships with telecom operators, technology providers, and infrastructure investors Lead commercial discussions on fibre deployment and international connectivity programmes Structure commercial agreements including joint ventures, long-term partnerships, and access models

International Growth

Support expansion into new international markets Assess regulatory, commercial, and partnership landscapes Develop strategies for cross-border infrastructure and connectivity projects

Commercial Leadership

Lead complex negotiations with key stakeholders across telecom and digital infrastructure Develop business cases and commercial proposals for large-scale opportunities Support investment decisions and project development strategy

Industry Engagement

Represent the business at industry events, forums, and investor discussions Maintain awareness of trends in fibre technology, hyperscale connectivity, and data infrastructure

What It Takes

Strong background in business development within telecoms, fibre networks, or digital infrastructure Solid understanding of fibre optic networks and high-capacity data connectivity Proven experience securing major infrastructure or connectivity contracts Experience working with carriers, data centres, or hyperscale environments Track record of operating across international markets or projects Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders

Desirable

Experience with hollow core fibre or next-generation fibre technologies Knowledge of ultra-low latency networks and optical transmission systems Experience in cross-border infrastructure deployment Established network within telecoms and digital infrastructure markets
