The Role
TCS in the UK has identified General Insurance as a strategic growth area with significant opportunity for expansion. The Business Development Director will generate new business sales, increase revenue and build senior client relationships across the General Insurance market in the UK.
Reporting to the Vertical Sales Lead, this role sits within the Major Markets Insurance unit. The successful candidate will bring strong market knowledge, proven sales experience, competitor insight and an established senior network to help TCS identify white spaces, develop compelling client propositions and win strategic opportunities.
Your responsibilities:
- Create and develop senior CxO-level relationships and meaningful connections across target General Insurance accounts.
- Lead the development, agreement and execution of sales strategy, account plans and growth objectives for the target market.
- Identify white spaces and underserved opportunities in the General Insurance market using industry knowledge, client insight and market intelligence.
- Develop compelling propositions, value cases and business cases aligned to client priorities and TCS capabilities.
- Proactively position TCS services, solutions and IP-led offerings with named accounts and wider market prospects.
- Work with solution, pre-sales, marketing, legal and commercial teams to respond to RFPs, tenders and proactive pursuits.
- Ensure disciplined use of bid review, approval, sales reporting and pipeline management processes and tools.
- Represent TCS at relevant marketing events and industry forums, contributing to messaging, thought leadership and market positioning.

Your Profile
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Proven experience carrying and achieving sales targets across order booking, total contract value and revenue.
- Proficient understanding of General Insurance trends, market drivers, buyer priorities and competitive dynamics in the UK.
- Strong knowledge of technology-led transformation in insurance, including operations, processes, platforms and emerging AI-driven opportunities.
- Experience selling IT services, consulting, managed services and/or IP-led solutions to enterprise clients.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted C-level relationships and influence senior decision-makers.
- Strong network of senior relationships within the General Insurance market and wider insurance ecosystem.
- Experience working with cross-functional, distributed and remote teams including solutioning, pre-sales, marketing, legal and commercial stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of commercial and legal frameworks relevant to IT services and IP-led engagements.
- Self-starter and natural networker who can navigate complex, large-scale organisations and drive outcomes with limited supervision.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
- Understanding of insurance industry regulations, regulatory bodies and compliance considerations in the UK.
- Appreciation of AI and its impact on insurers, insurance operations and technology service providers such as TCS.
- Experience contributing to thought leadership, account-based marketing or industry event positioning for insurance clients.
