Business Development Director – Interior Fit-Out & Refurbishment

Salary: £150k

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded UK interior fit-out and refurbishment contractor is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to join its executive leadership team.

This pivotal appointment arises at a transformative moment for the business, driven by a combination of proactive succession planning and the rollout of an ambitious, bold growth strategy.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will shape the firm's strategic direction, secure high-value commercial pipelines, and expand its footprint across key target sectors.

The Role

  • Strategic Growth: Formulate and execute target-driven business development strategies to expand market share across commercial office, retail, higher education, and public sector fit-out projects.
  • Pipeline Development: Leverage an established UK industry network to identify, track, and secure major refurbishment and fit-out opportunities (typically £1m–£15m+).
  • Client & Consultant Engagement: Build and maintain high-level relationships with project managers, cost consultants, architects, and corporate end-users.
  • Succession Transition: Work closely with the existing executive board to ensure a seamless transfer of key client relationships while driving new modern routes to market.
  • Work Winning: Collaborate with the pre-construction and tendering teams to lead high-profile pitches and ensure compelling, winning proposals.

The Person

  • Proven track record of senior business development leadership within the UK commercial interior fit-out or refurbishment sectors.
  • Extensive network of active contacts among UK property consultants, architects, project management practices, and commercial developers.
  • Deep commercial acumen with a strategic mindset, capable of driving sustained long-term growth.
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills, with a history of closing high-value contracts.
