Business Development Executive

Harper James has a great opportunity for a Business Development Executive to join a busy, successful and growing team. We are looking for ambitious sales professionals with at least three years of phone-based sales experience. The role will be office based, at our central Sheffield location working as part of a supportive and thriving sales team.

Harper James is a national commercial law firm designed to support entrepreneurial businesses from start-up to exit. We aspire to disrupt the model for which legal services are provided to businesses. The firm’s innovative approach to delivering highly tailored and accessible legal advice is considered genuinely different to the establishment. Harper James was founded in 2014 and continues to grow at c40%+ year on year. This financial year, more than 150 people will support more than 4,000 businesses and our turnover will exceed £14m. We expect to double in size over the next 2 years.

What you’ll do

  • Be the first point of contact for all new business.
  • Effectively qualify new leads generated by our Marketing team.
  • Support with outbound sales activity.
  • Identify and generate new opportunities by proactively reaching out to new clients over the phone.
  • Consistently strive to exceed your targets.
  • Develop an extensive knowledge of our practice areas and services.
  • Deliver effective sales techniques for a variety of client types.
  • Manage a sales pipeline and sales process from first contact to client won.
  • Develop a variety of CRM management skills to maintain consistent CRM hygiene.
  • Work with and develop relationships with senior solicitors throughout the firm for your specific practice areas.
  • Accurately report to your manager on your activity and pipeline.

What you have

  • 3+ years of relevant phone-based consultative sales or pipeline generation experience with a proven track record for hitting goals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • High energy, enthusiasm and optimism.
  • Great organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • A desire to constantly exceed targets.
  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure, high-volume sales environment.
  • A team player attitude who can also work independently.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Coachability and self-awareness.
  • A desire to learn and develop through a variety of coaching methods.
  • A confident and authoritative attitude.
  • The ability to have discussions with senior level decision makers from start up to C-suite
  • The ability to effectively manage a pipeline using a CRM.
  • A desire to contribute and be part of a fast-growing innovative business.
