Business Development Executive

Business Development Executive (BPX, Leicester)

BPX is expanding our team and we’re seeking a Business Development Executive to drive growth within our Leicester branch (LE7 7NL). We’re looking for a sales professional who can identify new business opportunities, develop relationships, and weave initiative into our ambitious projects.

If you bring high energy, technical curiosity, and a proactive mindset, we’d love to talk to you. At BPX, your ability to deliver tailored solutions—and your passion for learning—will shape a rewarding career with us.

About Us

For 60 years, BPX (part of the RS Group) has been the UK’s leading independent distributor of factory automation and control components: from computers and connectors to robots and relays. Our network spans 15 UK and Irish locations, serving thousands of customers through a local, trust-based service.

Our success is built on expertise, innovation, and our mission: "Help to choose. Help to use."

We’re the strategic partner for market-leading brands such as: Schneider Electric · Mitsubishi · Omron · and many more.

Our team—driven, collaborative, and customer-focused—endures because we bring solutions, not just products.

The Role

You’ll lead sales growth, forge lasting relationships, and work with programmatic energy to support BPX’s strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth: Build new relationships with manufacturers, customers, and traders—then grow our existing account portfolio in your region.
  • Sales leadership: Take a consultative approach, offering technical problem-solving to help clients overcome industrial control and automation challenges.
  • Balanced prospecting: Split time between new sales opportunities and nurturing existing accounts to maximise revenue potential.
  • Market presence: Be visible in the branch daily, engaged with both team and local sector shifts.
  • Customer advocacy: Support marketing campaigns, promotions, product launches, and events to strengthen brand visibility.
  • Continuous learning: Upskill in technical industries (industrial automation) alongside general business growth strategies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
