The Role
Active Silicon is a market leader in the design and manufacture of advanced computer imaging products used across a wide range of industries, including life sciences, medical imaging, manufacturing, robotics, and security.
We are looking for a proactive, commercially minded, and technology-driven Business Development Executive to join our growing sales team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys researching markets, identifying opportunities, engaging with prospective customers, and helping to drive business growth.
Working closely with the Sales Manager and wider commercial team, you will support the generation and qualification of new business opportunities, develop valuable market intelligence, and help create a strong pipeline of future customers. You will leverage modern sales methodologies, AI-enabled tools, and market research techniques to identify prospects, uncover opportunities, and support strategic growth initiatives.
This role offers an excellent platform for someone looking to develop a long-term career in business development, account management, sales leadership, or commercial strategy within a technology-led organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Research target sectors, applications, and customer accounts to identify potential business opportunities.
- Conduct outbound prospecting activities through campaigns, events, and targeted outreach.
- Qualify opportunities against agreed criteria, including customer need, technical fit, strategic relevance, and commercial potential.
- Prepare clear and concise opportunity handovers to the Business Development & Account Manager and Account Management teams.
- Support go-to-market activities, sales campaigns, events, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the CRM system.
- Utilise AI-enabled tools to accelerate market research, identify target accounts, generate commercial insights, support outreach campaigns, and improve sales effectiveness.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging AI technologies that enhance prospecting, lead qualification, and customer engagement activities.
- Gather customer, competitor, and market intelligence to support future sales and product strategies.
- Support the development of target account lists, campaign activity, and sales collateral.
- Monitor market trends and identify emerging opportunities that align with Active Silicon's strategic objectives.

Skills & Experience
- Degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident engaging with customers and prospective clients.
- Excellent research, organisation, and analytical skills.
- Commercially curious with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities.
- Experience using CRM systems to manage sales activity and customer information.
- Demonstrable experience using AI tools to support market research, account identification, prospecting, customer engagement, content creation, data analysis, and sales productivity.
- Ability to leverage AI-enabled tools to identify trends, uncover opportunities, improve outreach effectiveness, and generate commercial insights.
- Experience in business development, sales, customer outreach, lead generation, or market research would be advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- A genuine interest in technology, innovation, and commercial growth.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, challenge thinking, and contribute new ideas.
