Business Development Executive – Property Sector
£40,000 | Fixed-Term Contract
Location: Liverpool Street, London | Working Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days office / 3 days home)
A chance has opened up for a Business Development Executive to join an established, not-for-profit organisation within the smart energy sector.
Working with the UK’s largest energy suppliers, the organisation enables residential building owners and tenants to utilise smart meter technology as part of the UK’s energy network transformation.
This position suits candidates with backgrounds in sales, business development, property, lettings, account management, customer engagement, or telesales, with an interest in research, relationship-building and decisive conversations.
The Role
The Business Development Executive will drive engagement with landlords, freeholders, managing agents, and property owners nationally to secure permissions for smart meter infrastructure upgrades. Success relies on identifying the right contacts, establishing trust, overcoming challenges, and winning consent for project delivery.

- Researching building ownership via the Land Registry, online platforms, and industry databases
- Identifying and approaching landlords, freeholders and relevant stakeholders across Britain
- Conducting outbound telephonic & email campaigns to secure access permissions
- Building and maintaining high-impact relationships across UK property networks
- Navigating gatekeeping obstacles and engaging key decision-makers effectively
- Managing multiple engagement campaigns alongside clear follow-ups
- Logging interactions accurately via CRM systems
- Working with internal teams to coordinate project progression post-consent
- Delivering results against agreed targets for engagement and consent acquisition
- Reporting regularly on pipeline progress
Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant should possess:

Relevant experience in:
- Business Development, telesales, B2B Sales, B2C Sales, property management, lettings, estate agency, account management or customer engagement, ideally with utility/energy sector awareness

Essential strengths:
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building capabilities
- Comfort speaking with senior stakeholders decision-makers at scale
- Persistent and resilient in pursuing targets
- Skilled in objection-handling and influence
- Sharp attention to detail and strong organisational discipline
- Ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously
- CRM system familiarity and proven Microsoft Office proficiency
- Self-driven with independent working experience
