Business Development Executive

Purely Energy · Warrington, WA1 1GG
Full-time, Permanent | Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00 | Office based
£26,000 - £35,000 basic (DoE) plus fully uncapped commission of 15% on all revenue generated

Why this role

  • Your effort sets your income. You start on a basic of £26,000 to £35,000 depending on experience, with fully uncapped personal commission on every deal. From day one, what you earn is in your hands.
  • We invest in you. Structured training and coaching run throughout your probation, with classroom sessions and one to one support, then continued development as you grow into account management.
  • We promote from within. This is a long-term career, not just a job. As a growing business we would far rather grow our own people than hire in, and there is a clear, proven path from new business into owning and growing your own client accounts.

About Purely Energy

Purely Energy is a B Corp certified energy broker based in the UK, helping businesses across every sector secure better energy rates from a network of over 30 leading suppliers. We do not just win better rates, we stay involved, which is why 91% of our clients choose to renew. That ongoing support is backed by our own energy monitoring software, which helps businesses cut consumption and cost well beyond the initial contract.

As a small, privately owned firm, we pride ourselves on transparency and expertise, and we are now in a genuine phase of growth. We are looking for people who want to be part of that.

The role

This role has two stages. You begin in new business, generating and qualifying leads alongside experienced consultants while you learn the energy market and how we build relationships that last. As you prove you can build and manage a pipeline, the role moves into account management: owning your own client relationships, closing your own deals, and growing the accounts you bring on. That is where a strong sales person becomes a complete account manager, and where your earning potential steps up significantly.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Whether you are at the start of your career, an experienced sales person, or an established account manager, this is a place to build something lasting and to be rewarded for it.

Who this role is for

  • Recent graduates. You want a real first role in sales with proper training, quick responsibility, and a clear route into managing your own accounts. No prior experience needed; attitude and drive matter most.
  • Experienced sales people. You can already sell and you want a clearer path into account management, with uncapped commission and a business that promotes from within rather than capping your ceiling.
  • Energy account managers. You know the market and you want to own and grow a client base inside a B Corp certified, values-led broker, with the basic to match your experience and commission with no ceiling.

Your development journey

The first four months are about mastering the foundations: lead generation and outbound calling, learning the energy market, and proving you can build and manage your own pipeline, all supported by regular coaching and classroom training throughout your probation.

Once you have shown you can create and manage a pipeline, the role moves into account management: owning your own client relationships, closing your own deals, and growing those accounts over time. Experienced candidates who already have these skills will move through this journey at a pace that reflects what they bring.

What you will be doing

  • Calling and emailing businesses to generate qualified leads
  • Identifying and engaging key decision makers
  • Building rapport quickly and clearly communicating Purely Energy's value
  • Maintaining accurate records of calls, contacts, and outcomes
  • Consistently hitting daily call volumes and lead generation targets
  • Progressing into managing, retaining, and growing your own client accounts

  • A confident, professional telephone manner and strong communication skills
  • The ability to stay composed and handle objections under pressure
  • A drive to hit targets and a real interest in building a career, not just doing a job
  • Experience in telesales, lead generation, B2B sales, or energy is welcome, and will be reflected in your basic, but it is not essential
  • A degree is welcome but not required

What's in it for you

  • £26,000 to £35,000 basic depending on experience, with fully uncapped personal commission
  • Full training from day one, with ongoing support for your development
  • A clear, proven path from new business into account management
  • Paid birthday leave
  • Team incentives and performance-based rewards, including trips away for top performers
  • Company pension scheme
  • Free on-site parking
  • Company events and a supportive team environment
  • Real career progression within a growing, B Corp certified, value-led business

Requirements

  • Must be authorised to work in the United Kingdom
  • Must live within a reasonable commutable distance of WA1 1GG
