Business Development Manager / Executive

As our UK operations continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager / Executive to strengthen our commercial team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and acquiring new business opportunities across the UK freight forwarding market. This is a genuine hunter role, focused on winning new customers rather than managing an existing customer portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, approach, and acquire new customers within the UK logistics and freight forwarding market.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Build long-term relationships with manufacturers, importers, exporters, and trading companies.
  • Generate new opportunities across sea, air, road, and multimodal freight services.
  • Conduct client meetings, presentations, and commercial negotiations.
  • Prepare quotations and collaborate with pricing and operations teams to deliver competitive logistics solutions.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through proactive prospecting and networking.
  • Represent TLS Logistics at industry events, exhibitions, and networking activities.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activities, and emerging business opportunities.
  • Achieve agreed sales targets while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Business Development or Freight Forwarding Sales within the UK logistics industry.
  • Proven track record of acquiring new customers and generating sustainable business growth.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK freight forwarding market and international logistics services.
  • Existing network within manufacturers, importers, exporters, or logistics decision-makers is highly desirable.
  • Experience developing business with companies trading with Turkey, the Netherlands, and the United States would be a significant advantage.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Commercially driven with a proactive, hunter-oriented mindset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with international teams.
  • Professional proficiency in English is mandatory.
  • Full right to work in the United Kingdom.
