Key Details:

Job Title: Business Development Executive

Location: Home based, when not visiting customers or attending meetings

Base Location: Successful candidate ideally based within easy commute of Warwick, as internal team meetings usually take place in Warwick

Salary: £31,000–£36,000 basic salary, depending on experience

Bonus: Performance-based bonus of up to 15% of basic salary

OTE: £35,650–£41,400, including performance bonus

Experience Required: Minimum 2 years’ experience in sales, business development, account management or a customer-facing commercial role.

Job Overview:

Due to recent growth, RatGate is looking for a proactive and commercially minded Business Development Executive to help drive growth across our key target markets.

This is a hands-on sales role focused on generating new opportunities, building strong customer and partner relationships, managing the sales pipeline and helping more businesses understand the value of our products.

The role is remote / home-based, but will involve travel to meet customers, partners and prospects across the UK. The successful candidate will ideally be based in or around Warwickshire, as internal team meetings usually take place in Warwick once per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for researching new prospects, carrying out proactive outreach, booking and attending sales meetings, supporting new customer onboarding and helping existing customers increase their order volumes over time.

We are looking for someone confident, organised and self-motivated, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales, business development or account management.

This is a varied role within a growing business, offering the opportunity to make a real impact as RatGate continues to expand its installer network, distributor partnerships and commercial customer base.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research and identify new sales opportunities for RatGate
  • Carry out proactive sales outreach by phone, email, LinkedIn and follow-up campaigns to generate new leads, conversations and partner opportunities.
  • Book, prepare for and attend sales meetings with potential customers
  • Manage relationships with existing customers to encourage repeat orders and long-term growth.
  • Develop partner uplift incentives to increase order volumes, promote RatGate more actively and move through pricing tiers.
  • Support the creation and improvement of sales materials, partner packs, brochures, product guides, pricing sheets, email templates and presentation decks.
  • Maintain the sales CRM, keeping leads, contacts, opportunities, follow-ups, meeting notes and pipeline stages accurate and up to date.
  • Manage the sales pipeline, prioritising opportunities, tracking progress and providing regular updates on expected orders, conversion rates and next steps.
  • Support new customer onboarding, including explaining the product range, pricing structure, ordering process, delivery options, installer support and partner benefits.
  • Attend shows, events and forums to promote RatGate, generate leads and build industry relationships.
  • Help review and develop commercial pricing, including volume incentives, introductory offers and sector-specific opportunities.
  • Deliver product demonstrations to installers, customers, partners and larger organisations, clearly explaining how RatGates work and where they should be used.
  • Support the development of training courses, installation guidance, installer resources and educational content for partners and customers.
  • Identify and develop case study opportunities with installers, distributors and end users to demonstrate successful RatGate installations and real-world results.
  • Provide ongoing partner support, helping installers and distributors with sales conversations, product questions, marketing assets and customer objections.
  • Develop sales enablement resources that make it easier for partners, distributors and installers to sell, recommend and explain RatGate to their own customers.
  • Gather feedback from customers, installers and distributors to help improve products, sales materials, training resources and commercial strategy.
  • Work closely with the wider RatGate team to share market insight, customer feedback, competitor information and new growth opportunities.
  • Attend internal meetings when required

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a sales, business development, account management or customer-facing commercial role.
  • Proven experience carrying out proactive sales outreach by email, phone, LinkedIn and follow-up campaigns.
  • Confident generating new leads, booking meetings and developing new business opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain products clearly, answer questions and build trust with potential customers.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage leads, follow-ups, sales opportunities and customer information accurately.
  • Experience using a CRM system and keeping sales records, pipelines, meeting notes and follow-ups properly updated.
  • Commercially minded, with an understanding of pricing, incentives, repeat orders, partner growth and long-term customer value.
  • Confident attending meetings, events, trade shows and forums to represent the business professionally.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the confidence to generate new opportunities rather than waiting for leads to come in.
  • Good written skills, with the ability to help create emails, sales documents, case studies, product guides and customer-facing materials.
  • Comfortable working as part of a small growing team where responsibilities may be varied and hands-on.
  • Willingness to travel when required for customer meetings, product demonstrations, shows, events, partner visits and internal meetings
