About XCN

XCN is a growing multidisciplinary engineering design consultancy specialising in the data centre sector. We support clients globally, providing services across Design Management, CSA, Mechanical, Electrical, ICT/ELV, Security and BIM. Our teams support projects from early feasibility and concept development through detailed design, coordination and construction-stage support.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Executive to support the next stage of XCN’s growth. Working closely with the Managing Director, Project Controls and Operations team, and XCN’s technical leads, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing client relationships and helping expand our engineering and design consultancy services. This is a client-facing role suited to someone who understands the data centre sector and can confidently represent XCN with developers, operators, contractors, consultants, investors and project partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify new project and partnership opportunities across the data centre sector.
  • Develop relationships with new and existing clients across Ireland, the UK, the Nordics and wider EMEA.
  • Build and maintain a structured pipeline of business development opportunities.
  • Research target markets, planned developments, key stakeholders and emerging data centre regions.
  • Arrange and attend client introductions, meetings, presentations, conferences and industry events.
  • Work with XCN’s technical teams to understand client requirements and define the appropriate scope of services.
  • Coordinate expressions of interest, prequalification submissions, proposals and tender responses.
  • Support the preparation of commercial proposals, capability presentations and client-specific submissions.
  • Maintain regular contact with prospective clients and manage opportunities from initial engagement through to award or formal close-out.
  • Support the growth of existing client accounts by identifying opportunities for additional services and project involvement.
  • Provide clear handovers to the delivery team when new work is secured.
  • Maintain accurate records of opportunities, contacts, actions, follow-ups and proposal status.
  • Contribute to XCN’s wider business development strategy and regional growth plans.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
