Business Development Executive
Are you a driven and experienced Commercial Insurance professional ready for your next challenge? Join Jensten Insurance Brokers (South West) as a Business Development Executive and play a key role in expanding our Commercial portfolio.
This is a newly created role driven by our ongoing growth and recent investment following our acquisition by Bain Capital. You’ll focus on developing mid-market commercial clients (£10k+ premiums) across the South of the UK, supported by a prospect list, high-value industry memberships, and strong internal resources.
You’ll enjoy genuine autonomy — no geographical boundaries, no class-of-business restrictions, and the freedom to manage your book your way. You can choose a fully independent approach or collaborate with our dedicated handlers and retention team.
We’ll also equip you with quality prospecting data and insights to help you win the right business efficiently.
This role offers competitive commission, real trust and flexibility, and the chance to work alongside highly experienced commercial executives. You can work fully remotely, with the option to use your nearest Jensten office whenever you prefer.
This is a remote-based role; however, candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the South West region to support regular client visits and maintain a strong presence within the local market.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Jensten is one of the UK’s leading insurance intermediary groups, known for putting clients and people first. Since launching in 2018, we’ve built a standout business in a crowded marketplace — combining scale, deep technical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit.
Jensten is entering an exciting new chapter, with the business evolving into two clearly defined trading divisions: Broking and Product & Distribution. The Broking division will bring together Regional Broking, Specialist Lines & London Markets, and also Network Broking- while Product & Distribution will unite Jensten’s market-leading Schemes & Affinity businesses with Jensten Underwriting. This will enable us to deliver tailored insurance solutions directly to clients and through a network of trusted third-party broking partners.
Thanks to strong organic growth and a strategic acquisition programme, Jensten is now a Top 10 Independent Broker, placing around £600 million GWP into the market. We employ over 1,000 colleagues across 50 locations across the UK and Ireland and support 93 entrepreneurial franchise holders nationwide.
Our purpose — “Protecting today, empowering tomorrow” — reflects the role we play for our clients, our communities and each other. Our people bring this to life every day through our values: Caring, Curious, Skilled and Bold.
We sit in a unique space between large consolidators and local brokers — big enough to offer capability and influence, yet agile enough to maintain the culture, autonomy and client focus of a truly independent business.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
