Business Development Executive (Mid-Size Enterprise) | Gartner
About the Role
Our Business Development teams play a critical role in expanding Gartner’s presence across the global market. Gartner Business Development Executives strategically acquire new clients by cultivating trust-based relationships with C-level executives, uncovering critical priorities, and enabling value delivery tailored to their industries.
These roles require driving the full sales lifecycle—from prospect identification to account closure—and successfully handing off new accounts to the account management team.
We prioritise building long-term, value-add relationships, ensuring exceptional client experiences while growing your book of business. Collaboration with account management is integral to ensuring seamless transitions and client success.
Territory Scope: Focus on Mid-Size Enterprise prospects (up to $1b annual revenue). May include:
- Completely new-to-Gartner prospects.
- Clients currently engaging with other Gartner business units.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Outreach & prospecting: Seek out and engage new-to-Gartner organizations within your assigned territory, targeting C-level stakeholders.
- Full sales cycle ownership: Convert qualified prospects into paid clients by managing inquiry qualification, negotiations, and account transitions to Gartner’s account management teams.
- Client value alignment: Tailor insights, guidance, and tools to deliver measurable value; deepen partnerships with data-driven, consultative solutions.
- Pipeline development: Continuously build a pipeline of high-quality opportunities to meet and exceed quarterly sales targets and KPIs.
- Quota accountability: Achieve agency objectives for your assigned region – a high-revenue target with scheduling dynamically shaped by priorities.
- Forecasting & planning: Monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting for complex, matrixed sales; manage multi-directorate decisions.
- Account planning: Develop overarching strategies for long-term relationship growth and deal progression.
Requirements
**• Skills & experience:“
- 1+ years’ B2B sales experience, preferably in complex, high-intangible-value sales environments.
- Business development or “hunting” experience is highly preferred.
- Proven experience selling to or influencing C-level stakeholders (e.g., Chief Technology Officers, Chief Digital Officers).
- Demonstrated performance history of meeting/exceeding sales targets; track record of closing high-revenue deals.
- Exceptional forecasting and pipeline management skills, particularly within complex sale/sales phases.
- Adaptability to manage multi-channel, diverse catalytic buyers; finesse when advocating one person within a group.
- Language requirements: Native or business-level proficiency in English and a second language a major advantage; local language for assigned region priority.

Work Model: Hybrid Environment for MSE Teams
Gartner operates in a hybrid model, blending virtual and on-site collaboration. For MSE sales, expectations may include several in-office experiences per week, typically comprising:
- 1:1 meetings with management.
- Team syncs to strategise/align.
- Upskilling sessions (in-person attendance a priority).
