Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | Division: Electrical Thermal Solutions (ETS) | Companies: Chromalox, Durex Industries, Vulcanic, Thermocoax

Composed of Electrical Thermal Solutions (ETS), part of Spirax Group, we create electrical process heating and temperature management solutions—including industrial heaters and systems, heat tracing, and component technologies.

About the Role

Greg known as a stepping-stone opportunity, this position pairs hands-on learning with strategic support to the Business Development Director. You’ll work internationally, across multiple sales channels, to accelerate growth for two high-tech thermal solutions brands—catapulting you toward a standalone Business Development (BD) role.

Key functions include:

  • Analysing, coordinating, and preparing cross-functional working materials
  • Market research & trend forecasting across semiconductor, nuclear, aerospace, and defense sectors
  • Channel strategy for OEMs, direct sales, and distribution partners
  • Collaborating with technical teams to refine proposal and pitch content

Think of it as the ‘behind-the-scenes’ BD hub—a role that readeries integrity, analysis, and a passion for structured commercial growth.


Your Responsibilities

Core BD Support

  • Assist the BD Director in drafting presentations, briefing notes, and opportunity tracking dashboards
  • Transcribe and compile meeting minutes for committee and pipeline reviews
  • Ensure deadlines and action items are tracked via internal tabs and tracking tools

Market & Commercial Analysis

  • Conduct deep-dive research to identity opportunities, new tech developments, and competitor moves
  • Build and maintain a dynamic knowledge base of:
    • Target markets by sector (e.g., semiconductor equipment fabrication)
    • Key accounts, OEMs, distributors, and partners
    • Competitor benchmarks and cross-sector insights
  • Underleveraging data to deliver actionable commercial insights

Sales Channel & Asset Alignment

  • Help develop segment & sector-specific pitch decks (e.g., OEM applications, distribution strategies)
  • Ensure consistent engagement across prospects using existing sales and marketing assets
  • Contribute to broader initiatives resolving best practices and aligning both of our brands’ DX strategies

Technical & Proposal Coordination

  • Collaborate with R&D teams to master our thermal products and system designs
  • Support preparation of customer proposals by structuring technical value propositions clearly

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree: Bachelor’s/master’s preferably in engineering, science, or a commercially technical course (e.g., cleaner energy, materials, or tech sectors)
  • Experience (1–3 years):
    • Sales, Business Development, or commercial support in industrial/technical environments
    • Direct or channel-led experience with OEMs/distributors (a strong asset)
    • First exposure to international clients/markets (fluency in English required)
  • Technical mindset: Curious to understand how demanding industrial equipment works
  • Proven research & analysis: Comfortable interpreting Excel, synthesizing data, and drafting reports
  • Communication skills: Polished writing (formal correspondence) and PowerPoint-style presentations
  • Soft skills: Reliability, discretion, initiative, network adaptability
  • Availability: Willingness to occasionally travel (domestic & international)

  • Familiarity with industrial sales hierarchies (e.g., sales → marketing → BD)
  • Early exposure to change management or commercial digitisation projects
  • Experience in multi-brand or multi-channel commercial organisation
  • Moderament or advanced technical languages as a bonus
