We are seeking a motivated and analytical Business Development Graduate to support the continued growth and performance of our bus operations. This varied role offers exposure to commercial strategy, market analysis, performance reporting, and the delivery of business improvement initiatives.
The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying growth opportunities, supporting tender and partnership activities, analysing operational and commercial data, and producing insightful reports to inform decision-making.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate with a strong interest in business strategy and a desire to use data to drive performance. We are looking for a commercially aware individual who is equally comfortable working with detailed performance data as they are researching new opportunities, identifying trends, and contributing to business cases.
This role is ideally suited to someone looking to build a career in business development and commercial functions.

- Assist in preparing business cases, presentations, and proposals for new routes, service changes, and commercial initiatives.
- Conduct competitor and market research across Diamond Bus and other UK bus operators to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Support tender submissions, contract renewals, and stakeholder proposals where required.
- Help assess the commercial viability of proposed network, pricing, and service changes.
- Analyse operational and commercial data including patronage, revenue, punctuality, route performance, and customer trends.
- Produce regular commercial reports and dashboards to support decision-making by senior managers.
- Identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement, providing clear recommendations based on data.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking for routes, depots, or specific commercial projects.
- Work with internal teams to improve the quality, consistency, and usefulness of management information.
- Assist in post-implementation reviews of timetable, fare, and network changes.
- Work closely with commercial, operations, finance, and scheduling teams on improvements.
- Support the development of presentations and information for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to initiatives focused on revenue growth, cost efficiency, customer demand, and network optimisation.
- Provide ad hoc analysis and administrative support for strategic and commercial activities.

Competencies
- Excellent written communication and reading comprehension abilities
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and communicate findings clearly.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to produce accurate, professional reports and presentations.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
