When you join Rolls-Royce as a Business Development Lead, you’ll support across Submarines and Civil Nuclear energy. You’ll play a pivotal role in pursuing and winning new business, developing best-practice approaches, and ensuring collaboration across Strategy, Customer, Government Relations, Technical, and Commercial teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide variety of opportunities with differing customers and requirements, while gaining exposure to major national programmes and long-term growth projects.

This role sits within the Business Development team, working across both Submarines and Civil Nuclear energy programmes. You will engage closely with internal teams and customers, supporting strategy, capture planning, and programme pursuit activities to ensure coherent, efficient, and successful business development.

Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum, we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing
As a Business Development Lead, you will be supported by internal teams across Strategy, Customer, Government Relations, Technical, and Commercial functions to ensure you have the insight, tools, and guidance needed to succeed. You will coordinate activities across the business development lifecycle, supporting campaigns from early solution development through to bid and client engagement.
With this opportunity, you will get a chance to:
- Support business development lifecycle activities, from opportunity identification to capture planning and bid development.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to develop strategic campaigns and pursue opportunities across Defence and Civil Nuclear sectors.
- Collaborate across internal teams to ensure alignment, process compliance, and effective delivery of business development initiatives.
- Create compelling internal and external presentations, proposals, and materials that communicate Rolls-Royce’s value propositions.
- Support lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives to embed best practices across the business development function.

- Ability to coordinate and drive tasks across multi-disciplinary teams, with communication and information sharing.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, both written and verbal, including presentation experience.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills, capable of supporting multiple priorities simultaneously.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business, an individual must hold Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently have this in place. Candidates must be UK nationals.
