About the Role

Be part of a team delivering the next generation of secure military communications satellites for the UK Ministry of Defence. This work provides resilient, high-performance connectivity for the UK, its allies and Defence personnel worldwide, playing a critical role in protecting national security as space becomes more contested and demand for secure data continues to grow.

Joining Lockheed Martin also means helping to shape significant investment in the North East space sector, with more than £100 million proposed to support high-skill jobs, advanced manufacturing and long-term economic growth. Opportunities include potential satellite manufacturing in County Durham and collaboration with NESST – the North East Space Skills and Technology Centre at Northumbria University – helping to build a strong pipeline of talent, learning and innovation.

This is your chance to work on mission-critical technology, develop cutting-edge skills and build a meaningful career, while delivering lasting impact for the region and the nation.

The Role

Lockheed Martin is thrilled to present a distinguished career opportunity for a Business Development Principal, dedicated to fostering sustainable growth within Lockheed Martin's Space operations in the UK. This role will be the key representative of our UK Space portfolio, ensuring a consistent and cohesive message.

As a core member of the Global Business Team, this position will act as the primary liaison between Space Lines of Business (LOB), Mission Strategy Architecture & Growth (MSAG), Space Multi-Functional Organizations (MFOs), and Lockheed Martin Global Business Development & Strategy's International division tailored for the UK. You will forge and nurture relationships with diverse clients, spanning government, military, civil space, and industry, to jointly advance Lockheed Martin's growth and success.

This is a fantastic chance to become a significant influencer within Lockheed Martin, driving our future Space business in the UK, particularly within the context of UK National Security & Defence and Civil Space.

Primary responsibilities comprise:

  • Contributing to Lockheed Martin's Space growth strategies, with a specific focus on UK National Security and Defence and Civil Space.
  • Cultivating and sustaining partnerships with senior government, military, civil space, and industry influencers and decision-makers.
  • Converting market, environmental, and competitive intelligence into actionable strategies.
  • Collaborating with Space LOBs and MSAGs to achieve regional and UK security and defence and civil space order commitments.
  • Retaining comprehensive knowledge of civil and UK defence level growth opportunities.
  • Overseeing the management of allocated resources, including consultants and contractors.
  • Co-ordinating seamlessly with GBD&S International, Space LOB, MSAGs, MFOs, and other Business Development teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
