Role: Business Development Manager

Location: Flexible (London & South East)

The Opportunity

Are you a driven Business Development Manager with a proven track record of winning new business and developing long-term client relationships? Our client is an established and growing main contractor delivering high-quality projects across the Education, Commercial and Healthcare sectors. With ambitious growth plans in place, they are looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Manager who can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the business.

This is more than a traditional business development role. It's an opportunity to build your own network, influence the company's growth strategy, and create a lasting impact within a business that genuinely values entrepreneurial thinking and initiative.

The Role

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing strategic relationships, and securing new projects across the Education, Commercial and Healthcare sectors.

You'll have the autonomy to develop your own approach to business development, with the support and backing of an experienced delivery team capable of converting opportunities into successful projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities across the Education, Commercial and Healthcare sectors.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, consultants, developers and key industry stakeholders.
  • Generate and convert new leads into profitable projects.
  • Develop and implement strategic business development plans to support company growth.
  • Attend networking events, industry exhibitions and client meetings to raise the company's profile.
  • Work collaboratively with Pre-Construction, Estimating and Operational teams to develop winning proposals.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and provide regular reporting on activity and forecasts.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and upcoming project opportunities.
  • Represent the business professionally and act as a brand ambassador at all times.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A proven track record of consistently winning new business within the main contracting industry.
  • Experience working for a UK main contractor.
  • Strong existing relationships across the Education, Commercial and/or Healthcare sectors.
  • The ability to identify opportunities and convert them into secured projects.
  • Excellent networking, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and a strategic mindset.
  • A self-motivated, ambitious and results-driven approach.
  • The confidence to engage with senior decision-makers and build trusted client relationships.
