Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and target potential clients within designated industries and geographical regions to generate new business leads.
  • Be accountable for building and managing a comprehensive pipeline with accurate content for every opportunity.
  • Conduct research to understand client needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape to effectively position our services and differentiate us from competitors.
  • Convert qualified leads in line with our sales strategy.
  • Take ownership of the sales process from qualified meeting through to contract negotiation and closure, ensuring a seamless transition to the operations team for service implementation.
  • Proactively visit prospective clients on-site to build relationships, present WTA's ocean and road freight capabilities, and progress opportunities face-to-face.
  • Attend industry events to maximise networking opportunities.
  • Represent WTA professionally and reliably at all times when meeting clients, ensuring appointments are consistently honoured and well-prepared for.
  • Stay informed about industry developments, market trends, and regulatory changes that may impact our business.
  • Help shape campaigns and lead generation activity, drawing on kit bag of tools and content to secure opportunities.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a freight forwarding sales role.
  • In depth knowledge of freight forwarding, international supply chains, imports and exports across all modes.
  • Consultative value selling, shaping opportunities with the customer and building long-term relationships.
  • Confident, professional & friendly presence when meeting clients face-to-face; comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders on-site.
  • Highly organised, accountable and reliable, able to manage a busy travel schedule while maintaining accurate pipeline reporting.
  • Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel and attend the Manchester office.

Additional Information

  • Location: Field-based, with regular travel to prospective clients across the UK (road and sea freight sectors). Attendance at the Manchester office will be required on a regular basis.
  • Travel: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. This role involves frequent travel to client sites, with occasional overnight stays.
