Defence Business Development Manager (Consultancy)

Join a leading engineering consultancy as a Defence Business Manager. This role offers the opportunity to help shape the organisation’s growth strategy across the Land and Air domains, working closely with technical teams and senior leadership to deliver innovative solutions to defence customers.

Location and Working Pattern

This hybrid role can be based out of any of the following locations: Bristol, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Falmouth, or Liverpool.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and deliver strategic plans for the land and air sectors, ensuring alignment with business growth objectives
  • Lead business development activities, from identifying opportunities to securing new work and building client relationships
  • Oversee proposal preparation, mentor colleagues in business development practices, and support successful project delivery

Qualifications and Experience

  • A strong background in the UK defence sector and consultancy experience are essential
  • Expertise in land or air systems, with knowledge of areas such as Land Systems, Soldier Systems, Crewed and Uncrewed Air Systems, Autonomous Platforms, and CyberEM Defence
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, business development, and capture management
  • A network of industry contacts and the ability to build long-term collaborative relationships
  • Commercial awareness and experience guiding bids and projects
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide teams
