Business Development Manager
The NEC Group is looking for talented and passionate individuals to join our dynamic team. Our mission is to create unforgettable experiences through world-class events and services.
We have a fantastic opening for a Business Development Manager to join our Conventions team in Sales.
You’ll be working across our two convention centres, at the ICC in Birmingham City Centre and Vox on the NEC Campus in Solihull. These venues provide conference and meeting space for up to 8,000 delegates, welcoming over 350,000 delegates every year! And you’ll be part of a first-class team that is renowned for delivering incredible events.
About The Role
This role will drive new business across assigned NEC Conventions venues/segments by securing profitable events, building strong agency and client relationships, and consistently delivering against sales targets while growing the NEC Group Conventions profile.
Day to day you will:
- Own and manage a high-quality sales pipeline to consistently meet and exceed revenue targets
- Identify and secure new event opportunities through agencies, organisers, and corporate clients
- Build and maintain strategic relationships to drive long-term business growth
- Develop and execute proactive sales plans aligned to revenue and market goals
- Negotiate commercially sound deals to deliver optimal outcomes for the NEC Group
- Act as a trusted advisor, offering solutions that enhance event success and value
- Drive new business through targeted prospecting, partnerships, and campaigns
- Maintain accurate CRM data, forecasts, and reporting to support performance and planning

About You
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
- Excellent track record and experience in the events industry.
- A results-driven business development professional with a proven track record of winning new business and building strategic partnerships.
- Demonstrated success in exceeding sales targets and delivering sustained revenue growth.
- Highly developed commercial awareness, with the ability to identify opportunities and generate high-quality leads.
- Skilled in developing and executing effective sales strategies and account plans
- Proactive and resilient, with a clear focus on hunting and converting new business opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced negotiation and consultative selling capabilities to achieve commercially sound outcomes
