Business Development Manager – Real Estate Finance

About the Role
Hodge Bank is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth in the intermediary market, originating new opportunities, managing relationships with advisers, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be a proactive sales professional with expertise in real estate finance, able to meet agreed KPIs while delivering an exceptional service to brokers and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Market Growth
- Deliver targeted new business opportunities to meet financial performance and operational targets
- Maximise existing broker and introducer networks, conducting field meetings, group sessions, webinars, and presentations to promote Hodge Bank’s products and drive adoption
- Proactively engage advisers (validated and qualified) via one-to-one interactions, group events, and remote communications to achieve sales goals
Relationship Management & Sales Execution
- Build, maintain, and grow relationships with intermediaries through consultative, supportive, and compliant interactions
- Evaluate and progress "New to Bank" (NTB) opportunities, providing timely feedback and nurturing new business mandates
- Collaborate with the Business Development Team to onboard new relationships in line with agreed timelines
Compliance & Risk Assurance
- Ensure credit files and paper submissions are accurate, timely, and compliant with PRA/FCA rules, risk policies, and sector guidance
- Confirm proper due diligence (AML/KYC) and legal compliance (e.g., security instruments, drawdown processes)

Operational & Strategic Support
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on housing equity, higher purchase, buy-to-let, and development finance to advisers and internal teams
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of broader residential investment and development markets
- Proactively review commercial and marketing strategies, offering improvements that align with sales performance and competitiveness
Company & Regulatory Compliance
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements (money laundering, data protection, financial rules)
- Adhere to company policies, ensure systems are correctly maintained, and produce accurate management information
Continuous Improvement
- Upskill through product training and industry updates
- Take initiative to individual progress and demonstrate personal accountability in risk management
Essential Requirements
- demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the real estate finance sector across all customer segments
- has hands-on experience in the intermediary/broker market with a track record of successful account growth
- holds a valid UK driving licence and is willing to travel regularly, including rendering field visits
Person Specification
- Strong sales attrition with a proactive, consultative approach to brokers and customers
- Excel in customer relationship management and clausedetech CRM systems
- Adaptable, with experience managing high-value and specialised mortgages
- Technical depth in debt science and lending products (buy-to-let, portability, listings, credit assessment, and product eligibility)
- Regulatory awareness: application of Conduct Rules (Banking) 2014, ARCH, and Typography+ for fraud prevention
