Business Development Manager: Reputable Foodservice Business

My client is a well-established Foodservice business, renowned for their top-quality products and level of service across multiple sectors.

They are seeking a Business Development Manager to join their team. The candidate will drive new customer acquisition, expanding their presence within the independent hospitality sector, by:

  • Expanding new business performance
  • Coaching sales representatives
  • Identifying growth opportunities
  • Delivering against ambitious revenue and margin targets

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of independent field sales representatives
  • Drive new business acquisition within:
    • Independent restaurants
    • Cafés (note: corrected from cafÃs)
    • Takeaways
    • Pubs
    • Hospitality venues
  • Set and monitor sales targets, KPIs, and performance metrics
  • Support the team in identifying and converting new business opportunities
  • Conduct joint customer visits and provide on-the-ground coaching
  • Develop regional sales strategies to increase market share
  • Analyse sales performance, pipeline activity, and market trends
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, procurement, and operations teams
  • Onboard customers effectively and nurture long-term relationships

Ideal Candidate

Must have:

  • Proven experience in:
    • Foodservice wholesale
    • FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods)
    • Hospitality supply sales
  • Experience managing or mentoring field-based sales teams
  • A deep understanding of the independent hospitality sector
  • Proved track record in winning new business and driving revenue growth
  • Excellent:
    • Leadership
    • Coaching and motivational skills
    • Commercial awareness
    • Negotiation skills
  • Ability to analyse sales performance and implement improvement strategies
  • A full UK driving licence possession
