Business Development Manager

Location: London
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Salary: £70,000-90,000

We are recruiting a BD Manager to join a leading international law firm's Business Development team. Working closely with Partners and senior stakeholders, you will help drive strategic business development initiatives across Banking & Credit, Corporate M&A, Private Equity, and Funds. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced business development professional to manage pitches, client engagement programmes, marketing initiatives, and high-profile events within a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with practice groups to develop and implement strategic business development plans.
  • Lead the preparation of compelling pitches, proposals, and RFP responses to win new business.
  • Conduct client, competitor, and market research to support business development strategies.
  • Manage the production of marketing materials, credentials, practice descriptions, and promotional content.
  • Plan and deliver client events, seminars, and networking initiatives in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Coordinate legal directory submissions and support PR and thought leadership activities.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with key clients while supporting targeted client development initiatives.
  • Promote effective use of CRM systems, business development technology, and reporting tools.
  • Identify process improvements and support the onboarding and mentoring of junior team members.

  • 2–4 years' experience in business development within a law firm or professional services environment, ideally supporting transactional practice groups.
  • Degree educated with strong commercial awareness and client relationship management experience.
  • Proven experience managing pitches, proposals, marketing campaigns, and client engagement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of CRM systems and business development technology.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with confidence working alongside senior Partners.
  • Strong project management, organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
