Business Development Manager

Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager to join a leading pharmaceutical services provider that specialises in drug development and commercial manufacturing. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused professional with a deep technical understanding of the pharmaceutical development lifecycle to contribute to our client’s growth within the UK, EU, and North American markets.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving revenue growth by proactively identifying, qualifying, and closing new business opportunities. Working closely with internal technical teams, they will develop strong client relationships, understand market trends, and support strategic expansion of our client’s services.


Key Duties And Responsibilities

Your duties as the Business Development Manager will include:

  • Drive revenue growth by proactively identifying and securing new business opportunities for development and manufacturing services.
  • Lead client engagement from initial contact through to contract signing, including proposal creation, negotiations, and pricing discussions.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, collaborating with technical and project management teams for seamless onboarding and delivery.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity, representing our client at industry events.
  • Contribute to leadership development by coaching and mentoring junior staff.

Role Requirements

To be successful in this Business Development Manager role, you should demonstrate:

  • A Degree or higher qualification in a scientific discipline, such as:
    • Pharmaceutical sciences
    • Chemistry
    • Pharmaceutical Development
    • Formulation Development
  • A strong technical background with the ability to engage with formulation and analytical development scientists, alongside a proven track record in business development within:
    • CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation)
    • CMO (Contract Manufacturing Organisation)
    • CRO (Contract Research Organisation)
  • Experience managing the full sales cycle, including familiarity with:
    • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards
    • Regulatory requirements
