Business Development Manager - CNI and National Security Ampthill – Bedfordshire Permanent, 37.5h, 4 day working week Monday to Thursday Salary: £65,000 - £85,000
We're looking for a Business Development Manager - CNI and National Security to join our team based from Ampthill, Bedfordshire. This role will be blended with time in the office at Ampthill, client sites meetings across the UK and some home working (occasional travel to the US). This highly influential role is critical in delivering the Ampthill New Market growth strategy in the UK with emphasis on current and new technology to meet the needs of those customer organisations adjacent to Defence including Home Office, Border Control, Prisons, Emergency Services and National Security Community to provide leading edge capabilities meeting customer needs today and shaping for the future.
Able to understand the technology and capability of the Lockheed Martin portfolio and appropriately apply this effectively to the UK Customer to build a new pipeline of growth opportunities.
A self-starter with strong domain knowledge, evidenced business development capability and tangible success. The role will see the incumbent take responsibility for owning the business development process to shape and influence the market to generate, grow and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities. Working alongside the capture team, the successful candidate will demonstrate understanding and experience of campaign planning and execution, position-to-win strategies and strategic stakeholder engagement. Able to work both individually and as part of both niche and expansive teams, recognising the differing demands of the Corporation. This role will need to be resilient and proactive to engage and position Lockheed Martin capability to meet both current and future capability requirements, shaping thinking, informing decision makers and driving the UK engineering and technology agenda.

A tenacious yet considered individual able to operate and deliver in a complex enterprise to balance customer and corporate demands and expectations with an ability to match technical solutions and capability to customer needs. An effective communicator comfortable to present robust business cases with impact at executive level both within the Customer and to achieve buy-in with internal leadership.
Specifically responsible for; Understanding and shaping the market place as the domain POC and Voice of the Customer back into the business. Identifying and engaging key external stakeholders to position LM value propositions and influence customer procurements. Identify, qualify and mature pipeline opportunities, both organic and ‘new’ in an efficient and effective manner aligned to the business strategies Manage and grow personal pipeline to meet quantitive KPIs whilst assuring high quality opportunities. Lead opportunities through early corporate governance process and provide subject matter expertise for the Capture and Programme teams to secure orders.
The incumbent shall be able to demonstrate; Ability to understand the business’ technology road map, capabilities and value propositions and apply these to meet customer requirement sets that leverage differentiation in the market. A strong commercial acumen with experience of novel constructs to facilitate innovative business models. Ability to understand the political, technical, commercial, and financial aspects of a sensitive market engaging effectively with the stakeholder community. Required skills, qualifications and experience Proven Business Development experience selling into the UK MoD pan-Domain Strong senior level professional network within CNI and National Security across industry peers, and customer representatives Demonstrated ability to rapidly develop new trusted relationships. Demonstrable experience and understanding of engineering design and related services, spiral development, through life support. Exerts influence in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of the organisation Ability to operate as a key team player in developing new business plans, operationalise the market strategy identifying and executing new Go To Market plans Ability to effectively work within a multi-functional team Clear and impactful communication skills with effective inter-personal skills
