Business Development Manager
Location: Manchester (Middleton) (Hybrid – Office & Field)
Salary: £40,000 + Commission + Car Allowance
Full-time | Monday to Friday
Sell something businesses can’t afford to ignore.
Every commercial property with dry risers, wet risers or sprinkler systems is legally required to have them inspected and maintained. If they don’t — they’re non-compliant. It’s that simple.
That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to win new business, re-engage lapsed clients, and secure long-term service contracts across the UK. You’ll be helping organisations stay compliant, safe, and operational — while building a strong pipeline of recurring revenue.
The Role
This isn’t a desk job. You’ll be out meeting clients, walking sites, and building relationships that turn into long-term contracts.
- Generating new business through outbound activity, networking, and site visits
- Re-engaging lapsed customers and bringing them back on contract
- Conducting site surveys to understand systems and requirements
- Selling PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) contracts for:
- Dry risers
- Wet risers
- Sprinkler systems
- Building long-term relationships with decision-makers
- Preparing and presenting tailored proposals
- Managing your pipeline using CRM and internal systems
- Working closely with operational teams to ensure smooth delivery

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
