🔧Product Manager / Business Development Manager – Wireless Test & Measurement

📍East Midlands (Nottingham/Derby/Leicester area)
💼Full-time

Osprey Engineering Solutions are hiring for a well-established UK manufacturer of hydraulic test and measurement equipment. They’re now taking their product range into an exciting new phase — extending their wireless/Bluetooth sensor technology into a cross-platform app for mobile, PC, Mac, and tablet, positioned around "safe working": measuring high-energy hydraulic and load systems from a safe stand-off distance, with fully logged evidence. This is a genuinely new product category for the business, and they’re looking for the right person to help take it to market.

⭐About the Role

We’re looking for a Product Manager / Business Development Manager to lead the go-to-market for a new wireless safe-working monitoring platform. This isn't a typical "sell from a price list" sales role — you'll be talking to test engineers, HSE managers, lifting appointed persons, and compliance owners, helping them understand how removing people from next to a pressurised hose or suspended load — while still capturing fully logged, auditable data — solves a real safety and compliance problem for them.

You'll be selling into sectors including off-highway OEM test & validation, plant hire, lifting & heavy lift, quarrying & mining, rail, agriculture, aerospace test rigs, materials handling, defence, and energy/bolting — Alongside this new platform, you'll also promote and support our existing, established range of hydraulic test and measurement products, giving you a broader offering to take to customers from day one.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

✅What You'll Be Doing

  • Own the launch strategy for our new wireless monitoring platform, identifying and prioritising target sectors and accounts.
  • Alongside the new platform, offer and support our existing, established range of hydraulic test and measurement products, acting as a trusted point of contact for customers already using our test equipment.
  • Build relationships with test/validation teams, HSE and compliance stakeholders, and lifting/inspection professionals, understanding their safe-working and evidence requirements.
  • Speak confidently about hydraulics and sensor technology — you don't need to be a salesperson who's been taught hydraulics, you need to be a hydraulics/technical person we can help develop commercially.
  • Build relationships with hose/hydraulic service networks, equipment dealers, and inspection & certification bodies who can act as route-to-market multipliers.
  • Help land early reference customers (e.g. a crane/heavy-lift firm, a quarry operator) to build a credible launch story around real logged-evidence use cases.
  • Feed customer and market insight back into product development and marketing.
