Business Development Manager – Affinity & Insurance Sector
About the Role
Reporting to the CCO, the Business Development Manager holds a pivotal role, focusing on driving new business development within the affinity & insurance sector. This is a critical function within the UK business and will contribute significantly to the development and growth of the company.
You will be an experienced professional with a deep understanding of the industry landscape, including key players, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
The Business Development Manager will:
- Lead strategic business development efforts
- Cultivate key relationships
- Implement sales strategies to maximise revenue growth
- Deliver commercial deals under pressure
You will play a critical role in:
- Expanding the client base
- Driving performance excellence
- Fostering long-term partnerships within the insurance sector
Job Purpose
As the Business Development Manager, you will:
- Develop and execute strategic plans to identify and secure new business opportunities
- Utilise industry knowledge and insights to drive targeted prospecting efforts and enter new markets
- Identify emerging trends, market dynamics, and competitive threats
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry developments to inform sales strategies
- Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including:
- Insurance carriers
- Brokers
- Agents
- Industry partners
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, tailoring solutions to drive long-term partnerships
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to:
- Develop innovative sales strategies
- Align with industry dynamics and organisational goals
- Use data-driven insights to optimise sales processes and revenue generation

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support strategic initiatives to secure new business within affinity insurance, with ideal experience in:
- Retail
- Telco
- Motor (Ancillary)
- Banking
- Travel
- Develop and execute targeted prospecting plans to expand the client base
- Utilise industry expertise to identify potential clients and assess their needs
- Serve as a trusted advisor, offering tailored solutions to client challenges
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement sales strategies aligned with industry and organisational goals
- Continuously refine strategies to improve sales effectiveness and performance

Technical Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
Experience & Network
- Sales professional with a focus on new business development within the affinity & insurance sector
- Strong industry network, including:
- Knowledge of trends, key players, and regulatory requirements
- Proven track record in:
- Prospecting
- Lead generation
- Closing accounts to drive revenue growth
Skills
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build rapport and influence decision-makers
- Strategic thinker who can develop and execute:
- Sales strategies aligned with industry dynamics and goals
- Results-driven mindset with a passion for exceeding targets
- Understands all launch stages, from appointment to go-live
Technical Understanding
- Lead prospect assessment and align client needs with SPB products and propositions
- Takes ownership of tender responses and execution
