Business Development Manager – Teesside/Hartlepool
PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must be based in the Teesside/Hartlepool area and willing to travel extensively to support the company's aggressive growth and diversification strategy.

Overall Purpose of Role
The Business Development Manager is responsible for delivering profitable organic growth within their assigned country by identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities across existing and prospective customers.
Working collaboratively with Country Management, Operations, Technical Specialists, Commercial Operations and Key Account Managers, the role is responsible for developing qualified opportunities from initial engagement through to successful contract award. The Business Development Manager will proactively identify opportunities to support growth in core markets and to diversify into new sectors, services and customers whilst maintaining a disciplined approach to pipeline management, forecasting, KPI delivery and CRM use.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Business Development
- Deliver profitable organic growth through the development of new business opportunities within the assigned country.
- Identify, qualify and develop opportunities across existing and prospective customers.
- Develop and execute territory and customer development plans aligned with country and regional growth objectives.
- Promote the full breadth of Applus+ services to maximise customer value and cross-selling opportunities.
- Develop business opportunities across the Company's NDT, Inspection and Rope Access service lines, with a strong understanding of the offshore and onshore upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors. Support diversification into target growth markets including Mechanical & Industrial, Power & Electrical.

Customer Relationship Management
- Develop strong relationships with customers, understanding their business drivers, future investment plans and operational challenges.
- Position Applus+ early within customer procurement and project lifecycles.
- Represent Applus+ professionally through customer meetings, presentations, industry events and networking activities.
Commercial Management
- Lead the commercial development of opportunities from qualification through to contract award.
- Work collaboratively with Technical Specialists and Commercial Operations to develop customer solutions and high-quality proposals.
- Support pricing, commercial negotiations and tender compilation, ensuring timely submission of high-quality proposals.
- Contribute to country commercial plans and regional growth initiatives.
CRM & Commercial Discipline
- Own and maintain an accurate CRM pipeline, ensuring all customer interactions, opportunities, forecasts and next actions are recorded in a timely manner.
- Maintain high standards of CRM discipline, recognising CRM as the primary source of commercial performance information.
- Prepare for and actively participate in Weekly Pipeline Reviews and Commercial Performance Reviews.
- Provide accurate sales forecasts and pipeline updates to support business planning.
- Ensure opportunities progress through the agreed commercial sales process.

- Work collaboratively with Country Managers, Operations, Technical Specialists, Commercial Operations and Key Account Managers to maximise customer value and commercial success.
- Share market intelligence, customer insight and business opportunities across the Northern Europe region.
- Support strategic account initiatives and regional collaboration where appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Minimum five years' experience in Business Development, Sales or Commercial roles within technical, engineering, industrial or professional services.
- Strong knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) equipment and techniques.
- Proven ability to generate new business and deliver profitable revenue growth.
- Experience of developing complex sales opportunities and formal tender submissions.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills.
- Experience of using CRM systems to manage customer relationships, sales opportunities and forecasting.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Experience in non-oil and gas markets, including Renewables and Electrical Transmission & Distribution.
- Experience within Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC), Engineering Services or Asset Integrity.
- Experience across Energy, Infrastructure, Utilities, Renewables, Manufacturing, Aerospace or Industrial sectors.
- Experience of selling multi-disciplinary technical services.
