Business Development Manager – North
An exciting role with impact
Join Ambu at a pivotal moment as we experience significant growth, both in the UK&I market and globally. To leverage this momentum, we are seeking a Business Development Manager (North) to join our GI team. Reporting directly to the National Sales Manager – GI – UK&I, this field-based role covers full market ownership of Northern UK.
Core Purpose
The role focuses on nurturing existing customer relationships while identifying and unlocking new market opportunities through:
- Shaping adoption pathways
- Building stakeholder alignment
- Creating demand for Ambu’s single-use GI solutions in areas where they are not yet established
You will build and maintain strong partnerships with:
- NHS Trusts
- Private Healthcare Groups
- Community diagnostic centres
- Outpatient clinics
- Wider stakeholders (at Trust, ICS/ICB levels)
Key engagement areas include:
- Patient care
- Theatres
- ICU
- Endoscopy services
- Procurement and service-level decision makers
- Pathway and waitlist initiatives
Additionally, you will drive commercial performance through targeted planning and positioning in the GI single-use market, supporting both profitability and the continued growth of the UK business.

Key Responsibilities

Market Development
- Execute a strategic business development plan to increase adoption of Ambu’s GI solutions in:
- Hospital trusts (secondary care)
- Community diagnostic centres
- Areas requiring additional diagnostic capacity
- Shape and generate demand across emerging care pathways
- Execute a strategic business development plan to increase adoption of Ambu’s GI solutions in:

New Market & Partnership Growth
- Open novel NHS and private healthcare adoption routes
- Position Ambu as the preferred partner for new diagnostic capacity and service models

Collaborative Account Execution
- Work with the National Sales Manager – GI UK&I and cross-functional teams (Marketing, HEMA, Commercial) to:
- Deploy national strategy
- Engage clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
- Target high-value accounts via strategic account management
- Work with the National Sales Manager – GI UK&I and cross-functional teams (Marketing, HEMA, Commercial) to:

Opportunity & Insight Generation
- Identify and assess new business opportunities
- Drive market access initiatives for revenue growth in traditional and non-traditional settings
- Provide insights on market trends, competitor activity, and product development potential
Suggested Candidate Profile
We seek a sales or business development professional with:
- Proven track record of collaborating with the NHS, private healthcare groups (PHGs), and commercial stakeholders
- Expertise in developing markets for innovative medical technologies, including:
- Pathway development
- Integration with clinical teams
- Engagement with ICBs (Integrated Care Boards) and ICSs (Integrated Care Systems)
- Ability to articulate health economic, financial, and clinical benefits to senior stakeholders
- Commercial credibility and influence

Qualifications & Experience
** Essential:**
- 5+ years experience in:
- MedTech sales
- Business development (preferably in secondary care, theatre/endoscopy, or GI)
- Deep knowledge of the UK healthcare system, including:
- Procurement pathways
- Demonstrated experience working with:
- Surgeons
- Hospitals
- ICBs/commissioners
- Department-level and C-Suite stakeholders
- Proven success in introducing new products/concepts to:
- Secondary care
- Community diagnostic centres
- Other diagnostic environments
- Pathway development/experience
- Experience navigating NHS frameworks for new technology adoption
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with ability to influence diverse stakeholders
** Desirable:**
- Direct experience in NHS trust commercial teams or CPFD roles
