The Business Development Manager will lead Yukon First Nation participation in major infrastructure, energy, defence, and procurement opportunities. This role will act as the central coordination point between Yukon First Nation businesses, development corporations, governments, and industry partners to ensure they are positioned to participate and invest in major projects across the North.
Core Responsibilities
Major Projects and Investment Coordination
- Establish and coordinate the Grid Connection Project Table and related project tables.
- Grow the Investment Table into a long term hub for major Yukon investment opportunities.
- Act as the primary contact point between First Nation wealth entities and major project partners.
- Support the development of equity participation and ownership pathways for major infrastructure projects.
- Help track project progress, decisions, and participation opportunities.
Procurement and Opportunity Tracking
- Create and maintain a structured system to track procurement and investment opportunities.
- Map upcoming government and major project procurement pipelines.
- Support engagement with governments and project partners during early planning and RFP development stages.
- Provide procurement matchmaking between project opportunities and Yukon First Nation businesses.
- Strengthen Yukon First Nations participation in territorial and federal procurement.

Business Capacity and Readiness
- Conduct business needs assessments and planning with Yukon First Nation businesses.
- Map Yukon First Nation business capacity, services, and capabilities.
- Identify gaps in procurement readiness and connect businesses with training and resources.
- Support businesses in understanding federal and major project requirements.
- Lead development of the Indigenous Infrastructure Readiness Toolkit.
Government and Partner Engagement
- Maintain structured relationships with federal and territorial governments tied to northern infrastructure and investment priorities.
- Attend high value national events where Yukon participation can create opportunities.
- Organize targeted meetings, including Ottawa engagement when appropriate.
- Produce short outcome reports from federal and partner engagement activities.
Systems and Reporting
- Establish tracking processes for opportunities, engagement, and outcomes.
- Provide regular updates to leadership and partners on progress and results.
- Help ensure alignment across funding partners and major initiatives.

Ideal Profile
- Strong relationship builder and communicator.
- Comfortable managing complex projects and multiple partners.
- Curious, organized, and able to turn ideas into structured plans.
- Experience in business development, partnerships, project coordination, or economic development is an asset.
- Knowledge of Yukon, northern, or Indigenous economic development is helpful but not required.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in business development, partnerships, economic development, project coordination, or related fields.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable engaging with senior leadership, government officials, and business leaders.
Preferred
- Experience working in Yukon or Northern contexts.
- Understanding of procurement, infrastructure, or major projects.
- Experience working with or alongside Indigenous organizations or communities.
- Experience building tracking systems or managing opportunity pipelines.
