Business Development Manager – Healthcare Textiles (South England, Field Sales)
Business Development Manager (B2B Sales)
Salary: £40,000–£50,000 basic (dependent on experience) + uncapped commission on sales growth OTE: Typical £10k+ over basic (performance-based) Contract: Predominantly remote/field-based, 2 office days/month
Reports to: Commercial Director
About the Role
Join a 5-strong sales team within our 22-person healthcare textile company (£29M turnover group). Your work will be truly visible while benefiting from full support in marketing, logistics, and customer service.
You’ll excel as a Business Development Manager, driving growth across:
- NHS Trusts
- Private healthcare providers
- Healthcare distributors (South of England & Wales)
Key Responsibilities
- Build & maintain relationships with key NHS and private healthcare stakeholders
- Identify & secure new business for products like:
- Patient handling solutions
- Fall prevention systems
- Wider patient care innovations
- Support procurement & clinical teams with product evaluations, trials, and demonstrations
- Lead Trust-wide rollouts after successful pilots or tenders
- Collaborate across teams (marketing, customer service, logistics) to ensure customer satisfaction
- Manage sales forecasting, CRM updates, and activity reporting (full training provided despite any “out-of-the-box” experience gaps)
- Stay updated on NHS procurement frameworks, budgets, and clinical guidelines
- Represent our brand at industry conferences, exhibitions, and seminars

Territory Coverage
- Covering: South West, South East, London, East Anglia
- Boundaries: South of a line from the Severn Estuary → east past Northampton/Peterborough → up to the Wash near King’s Lynn (Birmingham, Leicester, Midlands excluded)
- Travel demands: Primarily day trips; occasional overnight stays

Requirements
Essential:
- Full, valid UK driving licence required (field-based role!)
- 3–5 years in business development/field sales, ideally with hospital/healthcare sector exposure
- Confidence & negotiation skills to manage diary, pipeline, and targets independently
- Strong record of winning new business (not just servicing existing clients)
- Adaptable IT skills and eagerness to onboard our unique CRM system (no prior experience needed—training provided)
