Business Development Manager
Blackfield Associates are supporting a leading engineering organisation in the search for a Business Development Manager to drive commercial growth and market entry across highly regulated and safety-critical pharmaceutical sector.
This is a pivotal role focused on identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities, while strengthening relationships with existing clients to deliver sustainable and profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities across target markets
- Manage and grow key client relationships, positioning the business as a trusted partner
- Develop and implement strategic account management plans
- Lead the preparation of high-quality bids, proposals, and tender submissions (RFPs)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technical, commercial, and marketing teams
- Analyse market trends and competitor activity to inform growth strategy
- Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Produce accurate commercial estimates and proposals aligned to governance processes

Experience & Requirements

- Proven track record in business development within engineering, construction, or technical services environments, engaging with the Pharmaceutical/ life science sector
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable experience delivering revenue growth
- Experience operating in regulated or safety-critical industries, selling infrastructure or mission-critical services like air handling/HVAC, utilities, cleanrooms etc.
- Previous experience targeting and developing new markets/sectors
- Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments
- Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
- Experience in bid writing and tender management processes
- Strategic thinker with the ability to operate both tactically and collaboratively
- Willingness to travel as required
- Full UK driving licence
